Happy World Bee Day everybody!

Today we gathered for a beautiful morning tea at The Werombee Hive to celebrate our precious bees, our wonderful community, and to raise funds for Asthma Australia.

This day is always especially meaningful for our family, as today would have also been our son Rodney’s birthday. Happy birthday Rod 💛 This event was held in loving memory of you after asthma so heartbreakingly took you from us far too soon.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came along, donated, supported, shared stories, enjoyed a cuppa and helped make the day so special. Together, we raised just on $800 for Asthma Australia, which is something truly beautiful.

Today was a reminder of the power of community, kindness and connection.
Grateful for our bees.
Grateful for our community.
Grateful for every moment shared today.

Thank you all for being part of it 🐝

Thank you Picton View Club!!

The Werombee Man and I had the absolute pleasure of spending the morning with a room full of the most wonderful, warm and welcoming ladies. What a crowd, curious, engaged, full of great questions (and a few laughs along the way too!).

From how a hive works, to the challenges our bees are facing (yes… we’re looking at you, Varroa 👀), it was such a joy to share our passion and have such genuine conversations about why our girlfriends matter so much.

There’s something pretty special about a room full of people who care about bees, community, and learning something new and today was exactly that.

Thank you, Picton VIEW Club, for having us. We loved every minute 🐝

We’re buzzing with excitement today because we’re launching our brand new creamed honey, smooth, dreamy, and absolutely delicious 🍯✨

We’ve also brought along some gorgeous Mother’s Day packs, Beeswax candles, jams, pickles, Honey & honeycomb goodness

If you’re looking for something a little bit special (and a little bit sweet), we’ve got you covered.

We’re here until 2pm, come say hello and soak up the beautiful market vibes. We’d love to see you! 💛🐝

Bee Grateful for Bees – This World Bee Day is a little more than just a celebration for us 💛

20 May would have been our son Rodney’s birthday. We lost Rodney at just 15 to an asthma attack, and in his memory, we’re opening The Werombee Hive for a quiet, meaningful morning together.
A chance to slow down…
to bee calm…
and to take a moment to appreciate the little things that make such a big difference 🐝
- Enjoy a simple, honey-inspired morning tea
- Share in a gentle “Grateful for Bees” moment
- Take time to connect, reflect and just bee
All funds raised on the day will be donated to Asthma Australia, supporting families living with asthma

Morning magic at The Werombee Hive 💕

Our girlfriends 🐝 were out in full force today, working the pink gum blooms like the little legends they are. I never get tired of watching them, busy, purposeful, and completely in sync with nature.

A little reminder to slow down and soak it all in… there’s magic in the simple things. Ally xx

Beekeepers are facing another major blow after resistance to amitraz, one of the two most effective chemicals used to control the destructive varroa mite, was confirmed.

Biosecurity Queensland's Varroa Mite Innovation and Resilience Initiative manager Robert Stephens said the resistant mites have been detected across south-east Queensland, including the Southern Downs, Ipswich, Logan, Brisbane, Redland Bay and the Moreton Bay region, as well as in northern New South Wales.

Mr Stephens said while the discovery was concerning, it should serve as a warning to the industry.

Introduction to Candle Making – Now Booking

I’m so excited to be opening up a small, hands-on beeswax candle making workshop here at The Werombee Hive

This is a relaxed 3-hour session where you’ll learn the fundamentals of working with beeswax and create your own beautiful handcrafted candles to take home.

Think slow, creative time… good conversation… and a little bit of magic in learning a traditional craft

You’ll make:
• 2 x 150g beeswax candles
• Learn about wax, wicks & techniques
• Enjoy a calm, guided experience (perfect for beginners)

Everything is provided, along with light refreshments — just come along and enjoy the process

📍 Theresa Park
📅 Sunday 3rd May 2026 11am - 2pm
💲 $120 per person

I keep these workshops small (max 8 people) so everyone gets plenty of guidance — and 2 spots are already filled.

If this has been something you’ve been wanting to try, now’s the perfect time

👉 Book via the link https://www.thewerombeehive.net/shop/p/introduction-to-candle-making-workshop or send me a message if you have any questions

We’re so excited to share the story of The Werombee Hive build with Wide Span Sheds!

What started as a vision has slowly grown into the space we’ve created here on our property — a place for bees, handmade creations, workshops, and our farmstay accommodation. Watching the journey from a liveable shed to the welcoming rural retreat it is today has been pretty special.
A huge thank you to the team who helped make it possible.

If you’d like to read more about our build and how it all came together, you can check out the story here:
