The combined skills of Samantha Haley, who lived in Japan for 15 years and her Japanese colleague, Machiko Tanaka, have resulted in a new concept in lamps in Australia – the crafting of delicate lampshades made from the Japanese rice paper (washi). Through the discovery of the beauty of "washi", Samantha and Machiko experimented with the different textures, colours and delicacy of the paper. Akari
