I really struggled finding clothes for little boys that were different to the limited mainstream options available in stores, and which were locally made using locally sourced and sustainable materials. I decided that I wanted to try making my own and which had that boutique vibe to each item. I wondered that if I felt that way about what my son wore, how many other parents felt the same too? From
this thought, and after years of learning how to knit, sew, and crochet, Ryu & You was finally realised in 2022. As my interest in crochet, in particular, grew, my love for other creative fibre arts and crafts did too. A new world of sensory and educational toys for babies, toddlers, and young children opened up, and I discovered the endless possibilities of handcrafted items. Something that is a cornerstone for Ryu & You is using, where possible, organic and sustainable materials produced by small businesses, whether they be local to my area, sourced from a quirky little gem hidden in the highlands of Scotland, or a family owned and run business somewhere else in the world. Supporting small businesses, wherever they may be, is important to Ryu & You. The primary materials that Ryu & You uses for crocheted and kitted items are cotton and bamboo, which are hypoallergenic, lightweight, and breathable, something that is incredibly important for the delicate, soft skin of babies and young children. Ryu & You also offers the opportunity for commissioned items and will work closely together with you to create pieces that reflect the image or idea in your mind.
