I had the pleasure of pattern testing the brand new Yuki pattern for Twine Tree and absolutely loved sewing this one up!

For my tester version, I made a dress for Frankie in a beautiful linen blend featuring the cutest jelly print. The Yuki pattern includes multiple design options, making it easy to create a garment that suits your style and fabric choice.

It's always exciting to be part of bringing a new pattern to life, and I can't wait to see all the different Yuki creations popping up. This is such a versatile pattern with plenty of opportunities for creativity and customisation.

This month has been all about heirloom sewing, woodland whimsy, and a little bit of toadstool magic. 🍄✨

I've officially begun creating my very first Renaissance Fair outfit, inspired by enchanted forests, folklore, and whimsical toadstools. While my character is still evolving, the wardrobe is slowly bringing her to life one stitch at a time.

This month's makes include an Overland Cloak in upholstery velvet lined with mushroom-print cotton, a Willow Top, a Lorien Skirt in a beautiful cotton-linen blend, and a coordinating underskirt. I also discovered just how much I love skirt hikes for showing off those lovely layers underneath.

My favourite details have to be the hand-embroidered toadstools scattered across the Lorien Skirt and skirt hikes. They're the perfect touch of woodland magic and make this ensemble feel uniquely mine.

This project is still a work in progress, but I'm so proud of how it's coming together and can't wait to continue developing both the outfit and the character behind it.

You can read more about my very first Renaissance Fair ensemble on my Blog: https://spoonie-sony.blogspot.com/2026/06/heirlooms-toadstools-stitching-woodland.html

The Lorien Skirt, Skirt Hikes, and Overland Cloak patterns were generously gifted to me as a proud Twig + Tale Storyteller for 2026. ❤️

There’s something special about turning fabric memories into something that can be hugged, used, and loved every day.

A day at the sewing machine with flannelette scraps led to this keepsake cushion for one of my favourite clients — my son, Rory ❤️

For Rory, I incorporated as many of his favourites as I could — puppies, gaming, Minecraft, sushi, and Disney movies — all little snapshots of the things that make up his world as a 7-year-old right now.

This generously sized cushion measures 50cm x 50cm and features 25 patchwork squares, created using six different patterned fabrics. Finished with a soft flannelette backing, it’s fully machine washable and designed to be both practical and sentimental.

I can also create custom memory cushions using your treasured fabrics — baby clothes, loved shirts, blankets, or other meaningful textiles — transformed into a forever keepsake.

Cushions start from $60.

Send me a direct message to create your own custom keepsake cushion ❤️

Two Willow Tops. Two completely different moods. And somehow I still want to make more. ✨

I was lucky enough to join the Sew & Show team for the new Willow Top from Twig + Tale and this pattern surprised me in the best way. It’s structured yet comfortable, elegant but practical, and works beautifully across so many body types.

It also challenged me technically in all the right ways — fully lined construction, gorgeous details, and an elasticated back that adds both texture and extra movement (essential when chasing after three kids).

🍄 My “day look” is a toadstool double gauze with a paper bag neckline, princess seam details, and ruffled sleeves. It felt especially meaningful during my personal May challenge honouring toadstools and their quiet heirloom magic.

🍋‍🟩 My “night look” is an embellished lime cotton version with the elastic neckline and relaxed sleeve finishings — basically made for mojito season.

These tops make me feel comfortable, confident, feminine, and completely myself — even while my body keeps changing shape and size lately. And honestly? That’s something special.

Feel free ro read more about my two new Willow Tops on my blog: https://spoonie-sony.blogspot.com/2026/05/two-willow-tops-two-different-moods.html?m=1

Note: I received the Willow Pattern complimentary in exchange for joining the Twig + Tale Sew & Show team and helping show how the pattern works on a variety of different bodies. All opinions provided, however, are entirely my own — including the part where I apparently couldn’t stop at making just one Willow Top.

There is something about a cloak that feels deeply connected to story. Not costume. Not fashion. Story.

This month, I have been continuing my personal challenge of honouring the humble fungi and its rooted connection to heirloom, and the Overland Cloak by Twig + Tale felt like the perfect companion piece.

There is such a quiet Lord of the Rings feeling wrapped into this cloak — the kind Tolkien captured in simple, enduring things:
a weathered walking cloak, mushrooms gathered from rich earth, practical beauty carried across long journeys.

I embroidered woodland toadstools onto the cloak as a small act of reverence for what fungi represents to me:
patience, resilience, transformation, and the unseen work of keeping stories alive.
Alongside them, I stitched a small “F” for Frankie — my little Elf — so she carries my love with her on all her future adventures.

Perhaps that is the real heart of heirloom.
Not perfection, but memory stitched carefully into cloth.

“Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.” — The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

In the vibrant Fruit Salad Kingdom—where rivers sparkle like lemonade and trees hum with life—tiny Pebble Pocket Fairies collect special stones that help them understand their feelings. Each pebble holds a meaning, from calm and comfort to curiosity and excitement.

Kailey is different. While other fairies carry only a few pebbles, hers is heavy with many. The world feels louder, brighter, and more complex to her—but she also notices patterns others miss.

When the kingdom’s orchard suddenly stops ripening before the Great Fruit Festival, it’s Kailey’s unique way of listening and thinking that uncovers the hidden problem. With the help of her pebbles—and her courage to trust herself—Kailey shows that being different isn’t something to hide.

It’s a kind of magic. ✨

Pebble Pocket Fairy: Miss Orange

Miss Orange is a bright, spirited Pebble Pocket Fairy who moves with a warm, flickering energy—like sunlight at the end of the day. Her wings shimmer in amber tones, and her laughter is soft but contagious, often arriving just when it’s needed most.

She is closely tied to emotions of motivation, courage, and renewed hope. Miss Orange appears when someone feels stuck, drained, or uncertain, gently nudging them forward with a sense of possibility. She doesn’t rush change—she sparks it, helping others find the smallest ember of energy to begin again.

In her pocket, she carries glowing pebbles in shades of tangerine and gold. Each one holds a different emotional quality:
• Courage Pebbles – warm to the touch, steadying shaky moments
• Energy Pebbles – lightly buzzing, helping lift heaviness and fatigue
• Confidence Pebbles – smooth and bright, encouraging self-belief
• Hope Pebbles – softly glowing, reminding you that things can shift

When Miss Orange places a pebble in your pocket, it doesn’t overwhelm—it gently builds. A little more strength, a little more light, until moving forward feels possible again.
She teaches that even the smallest spark can grow into something powerful.

Pebble Pocket Fairy: Miss Pineapple

Pineapple is a bright, curious little fairy who carries warm golden pebbles flecked with tiny sunlit specks. She wears a pair of slightly oversized round glasses that always seem to slide down her nose when she gets excited—which is often.
Her wings are translucent with a soft yellow glow, like sunlight through honey, and they hum faintly when she’s deep in thought.
Miss Pineapple has a love for ideas, questions, and the way things work, often carefully organising thoughts into tiny “mind shelves” inside her pebble home. She’s endlessly enthusiastic, gently leaning in to help untangle anything confusing or overwhelming.
She is closely linked to emotions of curiosity, clarity, problem-solving, and gentle understanding. Miss Pineapple appears when thoughts feel tangled, when things don’t quite make sense, or when someone is searching for answers. She brings a calm, thoughtful energy that turns overwhelm into something manageable, one small step at a time.

In her pockets (and neatly sorted in tiny compartments), she carries:
• Aha Pebbles – golden and softly glowing, holding moments of sudden understanding
• Curiosity Pebbles – light and speckled, encouraging gentle questioning and exploration
• Connection Pebbles – threaded with fine silvery lines, helping ideas link together and “click”
• Almost Pebbles – pale and unfinished, holding half-formed thoughts or feelings waiting to be understood.

When Miss Pineapple gives you a pebble, she often adjusts her glasses and offers a quiet observation or thoughtful question that helps everything feel a little clearer. Her gift is gentle clarity—helping you sort through your thoughts without pressure, guiding you toward your own understanding.

She teaches that even the most tangled thoughts can be patiently untangled, and that clarity doesn’t have to come all at once—just one small, thoughtful piece at a time.

For the month of April I have been busily working on a collection of Pebble Pocket Fairies to help Kailey with expressing her emotions through creative play. I have made up a little fairy tale but I thought I would start by introducing you to the characters starting with Miss Passionfruit!
Pebble Pocket Fairy: Miss Passionfruit 💜
Miss Passionfruit is a delightfully quirky Pebble Pocket Fairy with oversized round glasses that are always slipping down her nose.
She’s curious, a little scattered, and full of bright, bubbling ideas—often talking to herself as she flits about collecting “interesting feelings.”
Her wings are speckled in deep purple and gold, like the inside of a passionfruit, and she has a habit of tilting her head as if she’s listening to emotions others can’t quite name.

She is closely linked to emotions of curiosity, intensity, creative energy, and emotional complexity.
Miss Passionfruit appears when feelings are tangled—when excitement and anxiety mix, or when someone feels deeply but can’t quite sort it out. She doesn’t try to simplify emotions; she celebrates their layers and helps others explore them with gentle fascination.

In her pockets (and often tucked behind her ears), she carries an eclectic mix of pebbles:

• Curiosity Pebbles – speckled and slightly uneven, encouraging questions instead of conclusions.
• Creative Spark Pebbles – warm and fizzy, igniting imagination and playful thinking.
• Intensity Pebbles – rich in colour, helping strong emotions feel expressive rather than overwhelming.
• Clarity Pebbles – translucent with tiny seeds inside, slowly helping thoughts settle into understanding.

When Miss Passionfruit gives you a pebble, it often comes with a rambling thought or an unexpected question. Somehow, in the middle of her quirks, things begin to make more sense.

She teaches that it’s okay for emotions to be messy, layered, and a little strange—sometimes that’s where the most beautiful ideas begin.

April is my month of embellish — a time to add beauty, texture, and personality, one stitch at a time 🧵✨

Lately I’ve been inspired by turtles — their shells are like nature’s own embellishment, built slowly in layered, beautiful patterns. It feels a lot like slow sewing, where small details transform something simple into something truly special.

So it felt like perfect timing to test the Savvy Sea Turtle Pattern by Rustic Horseshoe. Meet Barnacle (aka Barney… or Barnakas 🐢), my corduroy sea turtle brought to life with embroidery, beads, and tiny ocean treasures. What started as a simple project became a little story stitched together over time.

This piece reminded me that creativity doesn’t need to be rushed. The magic is in the details, the patience, and the process.

Slow stitch by slow stitch — something special always emerges 💙

You can read more about the creative process and the rise of Captain Barnakas on my blog: https://spoonie-sony.blogspot.com/2026/04/embellish-like-turtle-rise-of-captain.html?m=1
