𝗠𝗕𝗔 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗥 🏆 This stunnig home transformation won Renovations/Extensions $350,000–$500,000 at the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗪𝗔 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 Awards.

There’s much more behind this transformation than the beautiful finished spaces. Significant building works included removing walls, structural engineering and reworking the existing floorplan to create the open, light-filled kitchen, dining and living areas you see today.

It’s a great example of why major renovations require a builder who understands both the existing home and the structural work needed to transform it.

We were incredibly proud to take home the award for 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻/𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 $𝟯𝟱𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬–$𝟱𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬. A big thank you to our clients Debbie and Peter for opening up their home to judges and photographer and taking part in the awards. Our awesome clients are always at the heart of everything we do.

Our winning project was a major renovation and extension in Duncraig, and this award is a wonderful recognition of the care, planning, craftsmanship and teamwork that went into creating the finished home.

𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗨𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘 // This generous master bedroom gave us the opportunity to rethink the layout and create something the homeowners really wanted, a new ensuite.

By slightly reducing the size of the bedroom and extending to the boundary, we were able to fit a comfortable ensuite with a shower, toilet and vanity without compromising the overall feel of the room.

Council approval was essential to make the boundary extension possible, along with a compliant fire-rated construction system.

It is a great example of how thoughtful design, careful planning and the right approvals can unlock more functionality within an existing home.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗪𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆𝘀 // A renovation can be messy, but the parts of your home being retained should not have to suffer for it.

Under this green protective board are the owners’ existing timber floorboards. During demolition, dust, dirt and debris quickly build up. Without proper protection, all of that can be walked and ground into the flooring, causing scratches and unnecessary damage.

We also remove and safely store doors the owners want to keep, replacing them with temporary doors during construction. In high traffic areas, we protect vulnerable corners that can easily be chipped as trades, tools and materials move through the home.

These details may seem small, but they are an important part of carefully managing a renovation and protecting what matters to our clients.

As a former HIA award-winning apprentice, Matt was invited to take the stage and share his journey, the lessons he has learnt along the way, and what at a career in the building industry can make possible.

His message to the apprentices in the room was simple: your apprenticeship is just the beginning. Turn up early, ask questions, keep learning and keep investing in yourself.

Matt is passionate about giving back to the industry and supporting the next generation coming through.

𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 | 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻/𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 // We are thrilled that this top-to-toe transformation has been named a finalist in the Renovation/Extension $350k to $500k category at the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗠𝗕𝗔 𝗪𝗔 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀.

This ageing 1980s home was completely reimagined to create a brighter, more connected and functional home for modern family living. Internal walls were removed to improve flow, skylights introduced natural light, the kitchen became the heart of the home and an underused formal dining room was transformed into a generous walk-in pantry.

With renovated bathrooms, new flooring, a fresh colour palette and a dramatically updated exterior, the finished home is almost unrecognisable.

The winner will be announced at the MBA WA Building Excellence Awards in late August.

The new layout will include a spacious open plan kitchen, living and dining area, a large alfresco, a cleverly positioned laundry and powder room, plus a new main bathroom with a shower, vanity, toilet and bath.

It is a great example of how a well planned extension can add space, functionality and modern living while preserving the character of the original home.
