Well… I went to a MiB meeting and came home with one less tote bag to sell! 🤭👜🌹

What a brilliant evening.

We talked, laughed, learnt more about each other’s businesses and even had a mini session with V showing us some of her Strike Back defence techniques. 💪🏽

And then it was my turn to talk about what I do.

I shared a little about Rosa Lea, Canal Art and my current Hopefull Handbags project.

For this fundraiser I’ve collaborated with Everything Personalised 4 U, who are helping bring my original Canal Art inspired design to life on a limited run of printed tote bags. 👜🌹

The bags are being sold to raise money for Hopefull Handbags, who support women and children affected by domestic abuse by providing practical items, comfort and support at a time when it can be desperately needed. 💗

Somewhere between the talking, laughing and networking…

I made another sale! 🥰

Which means we are now down to:

🌹 18 bags left 🌹

This is exactly why I love getting out and actually talking to people about what I’m creating. You never quite know where one conversation might lead.

And judging by these photos… I think it’s fair to say we had a rather good time too. 😂💃🏽🥰

I went shopping 🛍️ and came home with more than groceries… I came home with a little reminder that this bag is already starting conversations. 🥰🌹

While I was out, a lovely older lady stopped me and said, “That’s a pretty bag.” 💖

And I thought… that is exactly what I hoped would happen.

If you’re new here, I’m Rosa Lea. I’m a Canal Art artist, designer and teacher, and I’m passionate about keeping this colourful endangered British craft visible in everyday life. 🌹🎨

This September I’ve created a limited-edition Canal Art tote in support of Hopefull Handbags UK, with printing and production support from Everything Personalised 4 U.

Why am I doing it?

Because Hopefull Handbags’ work goes far beyond giving someone a handbag. Their own words say it beautifully: “It starts with a handbag, but it never ends there.” 💜

They support survivors of domestic abuse and their children with practical essentials, dignity, emotional support, confidence-building, financial guidance and longer-term help as families rebuild their lives.

For me, this project brings together so much of what matters to me: creativity, women supporting women, keeping Canal Art visible, and using something I’ve designed to help support a bigger purpose.

And yes… it also turns out to be rather good for an Asda shop. 🤭🛍️🌹

A little bit of Canal Art you can carry with you 🌹👜

This limited-edition tote features my original Canal Art design, created as part of my September fundraising for Hopefull Handbags UK.

Hopefull Handbags support women and children who have fled domestic abuse, providing practical items, care and support at a time when they may be starting again with very little. 💖

I love that this project brings together heritage, creativity and women supporting women.

Only 20 bags are being produced, in collaboration with Everything Personalised 4 U, with all profit after production costs being donated to Hopefull Handbags UK.

We’ll be painting beautiful traditional roses step by step, so you absolutely do not need to arrive feeling “artistic”. Beginners are very welcome 💖
