A perfectly balanced and insightful explanation of how to incorporate chrome into an interior.
I am a huge fan of the iconic Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer. A true design classic, but admittedly not the easiest piece to incorporate into every interior. With its clean lines, shiny chrome and black leather seat, it can quickly feel rather cold or harsh.
The key, therefore, lies in the combination.
Chrome works particularly well when softened with warm fabrics, wood, rugs, curtains and organic shapes. A round coffee table, a soft sofa, a woollen rug or warm-toned wood can immediately create more balance. This way, the interior remains contemporary and full of character, without feeling cold.
At Style at Home, we therefore prefer to use chrome as an accent rather than as the dominant style. Think of a chair, side table, lamp or a statement base.
I also really love the tip of emphasising curved shapes. The combination of hard materials with soft, organic lines makes an interior feel more interesting, while at the same time creating a warmer and more inviting atmosphere.
Great tips. Thank you, Hilde Franq 👌
