(‘Oh you are going to make me famous’). Geweldig toch!

Misschien allemaal een beetje over the top?

Je hebt me oprecht geïnspireerd. #

We did it once. And we’re doing it again!

Remember our first Win a Wall during Carmel’s opening weekend?

The result was absolutely beautiful (scroll back through our feed to see it!), and we received so many lovely reactions that we decided to do it all over again.

From 12–15 November, we’re hosting our Vintage Italian Design Weekend together with Cho Collectibles.

And yes, Win a Wall is back!

Your chance to win €1,000 worth of beautiful wallcovering, including installation in your own home.

At Carmel, we love tactile interior fabrics just as much as extraordinary wallcoverings. Because sometimes, one beautiful wall can change the entire feeling of a room.

So come by, discover some wonderful vintage Italian design, enjoy a drink with us, and try your luck.

Who knows? Your wall might be next.

Design weekend!

Wees welkom!

Who said leopard print should stay on the cushions?

In most interior design classes, you’re taught to use bold patterns sparingly. A touch of leopard here, a decorative cushion there. Preferably as the finishing touch.

Well, Wout from Cho Collectibles and I decided to take a slightly different approach.

We took these fabulous 1970s chairs, designed by Italian architect Giotto Stoppino during his collaboration with Kartell, and went all in with a wonderfully soft, richly textured leopard fabric by Etro.

What I particularly love about Stoppino’s design is the effortless elegance of the chrome frame. One continuous, flowing line connecting the backrest to the floor. Cool, sculptural, almost futuristic. Even today, more than fifty years later, these chairs feel remarkably fresh.

And then there’s the leopard. Warm, tactile, expressive. The contrast with the chrome creates an unexpected harmony.

We also had a little fun with the upholstery itself.

Rather than simply covering the chairs in a beautiful fabric, we introduced delicate pleating along the backrest straps, almost like a little pleated skirt. That same rhythm returns along the front edge, complemented by carefully finished piping.

Small details, perhaps. But they give the chairs an entirely très chic vibe.

And that’s what I love most about upholstery as a craft. The possibility of adding something to an already wonderful design through attention, my imagination and craftsmanship.
These chairs make me ridiculously happy. And I hope they’ll make someone else just as happy.

If you can already imagine them in your home, send me a DM.

Merci Farrow & Ball

Sometimes, the most memorable part of a factory visit is the people you meet.

As a new Farrow & Ball stockist in Brussels, I had the pleasure of visiting their home in Dorset, England.

One of the highlights? Meeting two decorators in the Application Lab, each with over 25 years of experience.

Their work consists of testing paints on different surfaces, with brushes and rollers, constantly refining techniques and sharing their findings with the colour and chemistry labs.

We spent just one hour together, but they could easily have kept us fascinated for hours.

What struck me most was their enthusiasm, their meticulous attention to detail, and their genuine dedication to giving customers the best possible experience with Farrow & Ball paints.

That same spirit of care and craftsmanship was present throughout the factory.

I returned to Brussels inspired, and even more convinced of why Farrow & Ball belongs at Carmel.

There is so much more to share from this wonderful visit. More behind-the-scenes stories to come.
