Why I went quiet this summer — on purpose.

I spent it reading the books I'd been meaning to get to, looking at the sea more than my phone, and catching up properly with family and friends I'd barely seen all year. No moodboards, no measuring tape — just being present in my own life for a while.

I came back the week of the solar eclipse, which felt fitting — like something shifting back into place, right on cue. Turns out doing nothing teaches you plenty: I noticed colour, light and texture everywhere, and came back with a lot more patience and energy for the clients trusting me with their homes this season.

Rested, recharged, and ready for what's next. If you're planning a project for this fall, I'd love to hear about your space — send me a DM, let's start there. 🤍

The Coastal Edit: The Everyday Table

This is a space I designed without ever setting foot in it — and it had to work harder than most rooms I take on.

The brief wasn't just "dining room." It needed to hold dinner conversations and homework spread out across the table in the same week, sometimes the same day. A room that could be tidy enough for guests and durable enough for markers and school books.

So everything here had to earn double duty: a table large enough to spread out on, chairs sturdy enough for restless kids, a bench that doubles as extra seating when the table fills up, and enough natural light from the window to make homework hour feel less like a chore.

A good dining room isn't just where you eat. It's where a family actually lives.

There are things you keep learning even after years of designing rooms you'll never actually stand in 🤩

This project reminded me of a few lessons I thought I'd already fully learned — the kind that resurface every time distance forces them back into focus. Swipe through for three of them.

Some are about trust. Some are about materials. Every project like this sharpens the same instincts a little further🤍

Before any furniture gets placed, this is where a project actually starts.

Every space begins as a mood board — color palette, materials, key furniture pieces, all pulled together before a single item is sourced. This one was for an open, light-filled living and dining space that needed warmth without losing its airy, coastal feel.

The palette came first: a soft dusty blue for calm, warm walnut and oak tones to keep it from feeling cold, and brass details to add a little warmth and shine. Everything after this board — every piece, every finish — gets measured against it.

A mood board isn't just a preview. It's the decision-making tool that keeps a whole project cohesive from the first idea to the last pillow.

Designing a space I've never physically stood in is always a bit of a leap of faith.

This project was fully virtual, start to finish — a combined living and dining space. No walking the room, no feeling how a vaulted ceiling changes the light throughout the day. Just photos, measurements, and a lot of questions.

The room had good bones already — exposed wood beams, a skylight, an open flow between living and dining. The challenge was giving each zone its own identity without breaking that flow. So the living side got a soft dusty blue accent wall to ground it under all that height, while the dining side stayed warm and neutral.

Virtual design forces you to listen harder. You don't have the room to lean on — you have to build the feeling entirely from what someone tells you.

Some dining rooms become the place where memories are made...

It's not by accident — it's built purposely with paying attention to details. Warmth first: walnut, brass, a well-loved rug underfoot. Then light, layered low instead of overhead and harsh. Then texture you actually want to touch. And finally, the small personal details that make people want to come back to this table, again and again.

Swipe through all four — then tell me, which piece is missing from your dining room?

The Supper Club, in mood and material 🤍

Walnut and brass for warmth, a terracotta vintage rug for softness underfoot, fluted texture for a little quiet drama, and a sculptural petal pendant to glow over it all once the candles are lit.
This is the room where dinners run long and the wine keeps pouring — designed to feel as good at 7pm as it does at midnight.

Some rooms are made for long dinners and longer conversations 💫

The Supper Club is my favorite lingering space - where the living room’s palette carries through in warm creams, walnut, and quiet notes of burgundy and green. French doors open straight onto the garden, a floral rattan pendant sets the mood overhead, and a colorful rug grounds the whole thing in layered warmth. The dining chairs and that cherished vintage bar table were kept, not replaced — because the best rooms hold a little history🤍

Every home needs one room that asks nothing of you.

The Sanctuary is ours — a deep sectional, warm walnut storage, and soft sculptural lighting that come together for slow mornings and long evenings alike. Layered textures over a quiet neutral base, with just a breath of green to keep it alive.

DM me to bring it into your home 💫
