Vandaag namen we afscheid van Moniek E. Bucquoye, designexperte, auteur en tentoonstellingsmaker. Op vele manieren gaf ze het nationale designlandschap mee vorm. Niet alleen was ze de eerste journaliste die over vormgeving, wonen en design schreef, ze zette ook tal van Belgische ontwerpers op de kaart. Van 1981 tot 1994 was ze als directeur verbonden aan de Biënnale in Kortrijk, daarna tot 2016 als lid van de raad van bestuur. Onder haar vleugels ontving de Biënnale onder meer internationale ontwerpers Alessandro Mendini (IT), Philippe Starck (FR), Andrea Branzi (IT), Dieter Rams (DE) en Jasper Morrison (UK) als eregast. Tal van generaties maakte kennis met hun werk. Meer dan dertig jaar was Bucquoye betrokken bij de Biënnale waar ze tot een paar jaar geleden nog altijd als designexperte werd opgevoerd. We zijn haar dan ook ontzettend dankbaar voor haar jarenlange inzet en haar onmisbare expertise die ze deelde met de Biënnale Interieur.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that the 27th edition of the Biennale Interieur, due to take place from 20 to 24 October 2022 in Kortrijk Xpo, has been cancelled.

After a successful edition of 'Please, have a seat' in 2021, the renewed formula for INTERIEUR 2022 announced itself promising. Titled 'The Digital Era', the 2022 edition had the ambition to highlight the future of design in a digital - physical world.

However, the numerous shifts in the calendar of interior and design fairs due to the pandemic are still being felt today. The impact on the international world of fairs remains enormous, making it impossible for the organisation to guarantee a successful and qualitative edition in these economically uncertain times.

Our intention to inspire and to bring people together remains unchanged. We’re now taking the time to rethink the future and to come up with an alternative that responds to the new needs of the market.
