My biggest red flag is if I see someone else growing something on Instagram I will immediately add it to my must grow list even if I don’t know how to grow it. This mint is an example of that.

Turns out mint thrives on neglect and needs some time to establish itself? Whatever the case, the mint is bomb this year, which probably means next year it’s going to look terrible but at least it looks good now, right?!

I don’t know if I’m recommending it but maybe you too can grow 3 foot mint and be amazed like I was!!

*mint does spread so make sure you contain it in a raised bed if you don’t want it to take over a section of your field/garden!

May is always the busiest month with Mother’s Day weekend and spring weddings. It’s also ranunculus and peony season so we race the clock to harvest every bloom we possibly can. Our florists also kept us busy with lots of wholesale orders.

Monthly subscriptions started with the most gorgeous palette of pinks! We also ran our peony and ranunculus subscriptions!

Thank you to everyone who bought flowers! May is an important sales month for us and you made all the difference 🥹

Now on to June - you can find us at the Abbotsford farm and country market in jubilee park from 9-1 every Saturday for the next 4 weeks and then we’re done with markets for the year so we hope to see you!

May was so busy that I really questioned my life decisions to run my own business but we made it through and June is a little more chill so it should be a good one!

We’ll be at the Abbotsford farm and country market from 9-1 in jubilee park every Saturday until June so come on by and get some of these beauties!

At 2pm on Thursday the coolbot heating cable broke and I wanted to cry because we had just harvested 500 peonies and there was only more to come and peonies need to be stored at 1-3C temp. I like to store them for awhile to make sure I have enough for weddings and DIY buckets so I keep them pretty cold.

I quickly ordered a new heater cable on Amazon to try get the cooler fixed as quickly as possible and then jumped onto a call with a coolbot rep to see if they could offer some assistance. After some discussion he said it might just be the actual coolbot and said that since I had ordered it barely a year ago they would warranty it and send me a new one!

He said it would ship out in the morning with 2 day expedited shipping and should be at my house by Saturday. Not ideal but still only two days. Thursday I ran a bunch of flowers out to langley to another flower farmers cooler to keep them good for subscriptions.

Saturday afternoon rolls around and after religiously updating the tracking it says delivery may 21. I’m stressing out because that’s a week without a cooler during the heart of peony season 🫠

At 5pm mom texts me that there’s packages at the front door and I race to the door to see. The heating cable from Amazon has arrived so I might as well try see if that’s the problem. When I plug in the heater cable the error code immediately goes away. I’m getting hopeful now!

Within half an hour the coolers back down to temperature! Good thing I ordered that cable - the coolbot stilll hasn’t shown up (Tuesday am).

I spent the next hour after it was fixed picking peonies. Thankfully it had been rainy the two days the cooler was down and nothing had really opened too much!

So here’s me with all my peonies I picked Saturday night! We’re so excited that we didn’t lose them all and can send them out to you this week!

Flower farming is a wild ride but we’ll always make sure we have backup cables going forward 😅
