Kim’s love of design, textiles, flowers, and entertaining led to the establishment of Aurora Decor in 2006. Around 2010 Aurora Decor transitioned the business from events into home interiors, a life-long passion of hers. Between designing beautiful home spaces Kim is a busy wife to her best friend, and mom to two awesome teenaged kids. Kim’s style reads effortless and approachable with a distinct balance between that one investment piece and price-savy finds.

Last night’s concert in Calgary was a masterclass of collaboration, casual elegance, and artistic genius. If a design project could be summed up in a jazz performance I’d aim for the beauty I witnessed last night. A perfect date night nearly 25 years after the first time we saw her. ❤️ Pre-concert cocktails and snacks were 👌🏻

BIG day in my house! About a month ago my wall oven/microwave combo died and the parts required to fix it were discontinued. I’ve long talked about a double wall oven in my “next” house and as it turns out I get to enjoy a double wall oven in THIS house. 🎉So thankful for fantastic local service from and to for going above and beyond to help us modify the cabinet to make this beauty fit. Time to plan a dinner party!

I LOVE some good hood fan drama in a kitchen renovation. Every kitchen has one, so you may as well make it stand out! The hood fan was custom built by the team and meticulously textured by The counters and stunning scroll detailed splash were executed by making this cooking nook a chef’s dream.

Doing a refresh can be as simple as swapping counters, hardware, lights, a new faucet and mirror. Fresh coat of paint and it’s a brand new bathroom. Would the homeowners pick this tile if they were building - maybe not, but just because it isn’t your first choice doesn’t mean we can’t make it become part of a thoughtful design. Spending today at my computer working on a Design Board presentation for tomorrow. Every so often a previous job pops into my head and I have go back and look at the photos to study them. This is a favorite shot by I absolutely love the rich coziness of this guest bedroom. It’s just the inspiration I needed to finish tomorrow’s presentation!

2016. The year I celebrated 10 years of doing Aurora Decor part time and took a leap of faith and made it my full time job! That means July 2026 marks 10 years of Aurora Decor Interiors and 20 years of Aurora Decor😃 Strolling through memory lane I remember the excitement of those first few big projects and the pleasure of getting to work with those same clients again in recent years. Prospective is such a gift! Here’s to the next 10 years!

A favorite corner of my bedroom. This artwork is extra special as it was a gift my husband bought from a dear friend and artist Larisa generously donated this piece, entitled Columns, towards the X event in the fall. Steve bid on it in the silent auction and I think it’s absolutely perfect in it’s new home. Swipe over to see more of the exquisite detail in the mixed media on birch panel masterpiece. It’s my 2nd piece of original artwork, does that make me an art collector now?
