We are not usually ones to say no to a challenge or something new. Vance Schilling was game to give Hoof Grip a go when it came to his old truck. We agreed this was a first and couldn’t guarantee anything.

He liked and knew the product from seeing it on a deck, why not give it a whirl.

Hoof Grip Flooring: Maintenance Matters

One of the most important things we continually remind our customers is that the longevity of your floor depends on maintenance. A well-maintained floor can provide years of reliable performance, while a neglected floor will eventually fail.
Our floors are intentionally porous. They are designed to allow liquids to drain through the pores, helping to eliminate urine buildup, ammonia, and odors. However, they can only perform as intended when they are kept clean.
This post is not intended to criticize or discourage anyone. Its purpose is simply to provide education and information for both current and future Hoof Grip customers.
For nearly 10 years, we have been installing Hoof Grip flooring. During that time, we have learned a great deal, continue to learn every day, and have seen many examples of floor failure that could have been prevented with proper maintenance and understanding of the product.
We often hear comments such as, “We wash it all the time,” or “We clean it out regularly.” After working with these floors for so many years, we can tell the difference between a flooring issue and a maintenance issue.
More often than not, the floor didn't fail—you failed the floor.

To keep your floor performing properly:

• Clean out manure after every use using a shovel.
• Avoid using shavings, as they can clog the pores.
• Remove all hay, straw, and organic debris (sweep or use a leaf blower)
• When weather permits, (not going to freeze) thoroughly wash the floor using a pressure washer or garden sprayer. (2x a year is not enough)
• We recommend using Dawn dish soap to help clean the pores and remove buildup.

Think of it this way: if you neglect regular maintenance on your vehicle, your mechanic will notice. If you neglect proper care of your horse, your horse will show you. The same principle applies to your Hoof Grip floor.
If you choose not to maintain your Hoof Grip floor, it will eventually fail.
We stand behind our product and hold ourselves accountable for its quality, but we cannot maintain your floors for you. Proper care is the responsibility of the owner.
We respectfully ask that you receive this message in the spirit it is intended; as education, not criticism. Our goal is to help you get the maximum life and performance from your Hoof Grip flooring investment.
Respectfully, if you choose to invest in a Hoof Grip floor, take pride in that investment. Like any investment, it requires proper care and maintenance to deliver the performance and longevity it was designed for.
We are committed to providing a quality product and educating our customers on how to care for it. However, we cannot be held responsible for misconceptions, neglect, or a lack of accountability when it comes to ongoing maintenance. A floor that is not properly maintained cannot perform as intended.
Our goal is not to place blame, but to provide the knowledge and tools needed to help you protect your investment and get the most out of your Hoof Grip flooring for years to come.
