Hi, I'm Laura! Thought I'd do a quick reintroduction for those that don't know me. I stumbled upon ceramics shortly after being diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening autoimmune disease that has forced me to make a lot of changes to stay as healthy as possible. The amount that I can do is highly dependent on the day, (and that is when I'm feeling well-ish). Recently I came down with a cold, but for people with certain conditions and illnesses a cold goes very quickly from a cold to a very big deal. This can lead to hospitalizations, inability to receive treatments and many other adverse side-effects. Today I sat up and painted this 5 inch plate at my kitchen table. This would usually be a pretty straight forward and easy task, but today it was like climbing a mountain. This is the first time in quite a while I've felt up to really doing anything, which makes me very sad. I only had the opportunity and time to explore ceramics because of my condition, but it also gets in the way of getting to enjoy it. So, if you're sick, wash your hands, keep your distance, touch only what you must and wear a mask, to help your chronically ill friends be able to keep creating, instead of just existing. ✌🏻
