We have been on the mosaic knitting train around here! I (Jessica) finished this Pressed Flowers Kerchief by Amy Christoffers. It flew off my needles, I knit it in 24 hours! I used Quattro by Lang yarns which has become one of my favourite yarns ever! It’s so soft, the stitch definition is amazing and the rainbow of colours that it comes in is infinite! It is a 100% cotton yarn that is mercerized which gives it a lovely sheen and drape. I used the colours Flamingo (CC) and Mauve (MC) for mine. I was able to get an extra repeat of the flowers in my version making for a cute little kerchief. This was knit on a 4mm needle. I might cast on another one soon but use 2 balls of each colour to make a larger version!

We have a new mascot in the shop! Meet Bob! This Ol’ Bear is very happy to meet you!

Bob is knit from the Big Ol’ Bear pattern by Susan B. Anderson. Although the pattern calls for worsted and makes a MUCH larger bear, our Bob was knit in fi*****ng weight. Jessica used Neon Fair Isle by Rico Designs in the colourway Forest for his body and Natural on Solar Sock for his head. 2.0mm needles were used to make this delightfully smol guy! Bob clocks in at 7 inches tall when sitting down. His eyes are 6mm safety eyes. A small pouch of lizard litter was added during the stuffing step to add weight so he sits better. He is missing his sweater and scarf from the pattern. They will have be knit soon before the weather turns! Swipe through to see his day at work!

This was such a fun knit and there will be some more Big Ol’ Bears made soon!

🖤🌈 swipe to see my super fun project with the new Flockchen! I’m using a skein of the Eco Shetland Worsted in colour “Coal” held together with a strand of “Black” Flockchen to make the Wool Standard Hat which is a free pattern from Purl Soho.

It’s ridiculous how fun this project is!! The little colour flecks are very soft and repeat often along the thread strand (you can see it a bit in the second photo) so your project is just full of pops of colour 🤩 this colour combo is very 80’s/90’s to me and makes me think of a whole bunch of things like colourful Christmas lights, little nerds candies, sprinkle icing, fun outfits and that’s just off the top of my head!

We have lots of different colours available on both of these bases in the shop & online. The colour combos are endless! We also did a combo suggestions post a couple weeks ago if you want to check out that post as well.

If you want to see these in person, we’ll be open this week starting tomorrow, Wednesday, & Thursday from 11-6 and Friday from 12-8. Saturday and Sunday from 11-4.

🎃 speckled HALLOWEEN is here on our Merino DK base! All colours are now available in store and online (on Solar Sock too) 😱 and you can make your own sock set with our individual Merino DK mini skeins that are now listed online! You can find them under the “mini skeins” drop down menu and then by clicking on the “Mainstay Merino DK mini skein collection” button.

You can also come by the shop today until 8pm to see all things scary! 👻 we also have our social tonight from 6-8pm if you’d like to join us, just bring your knitting, crochet or other hand crafts to work on 🌙🧶

We are also open this long weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm with our social on Sunday from 11am-1pm. We’ll be closed, like usual, on Monday and Tuesday 🍂 we hope you have a great Friday!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Halloween around here! Bring home some Halloween for yourself with these project bags! Small and Large pocket bags are available in this collection of prints. Small pocket bags are perfect for socks, small shawls and accessories. Mine is currently filled with all the things for stuffy knitting! There’s a few colours of yarn to choose from and a sandwich bag full of fluff for stuffing. The outside pocket comes in handy to hold my patterns and extra sets of needles and other notions. The large size is the perfect sweater size with plenty of room for large cozy sweaters or even blankets!

📣WE’VE GOT BOOKS! 📣 Today we received a very exciting shipment! Our first order of books!

The first book we’re featuring is Chez Myrtil by Cinthia Vallet. This is the second title that Cinthia has published through Laine Publishing. Mouche & Friends was the first published in 2023. The adventure of knitting seamless friends continues in this book. Some friends are old favourites like Myrtil whose pattern has been updated and some are brand new to the friend group like Merle the Crocodile. There are 12 characters in the book as well as garments for each of them. This book is jam packed with techniques and illustrations to help along the way.

Our very own Myrtil is very excited that some new outfits are on the horizon for him! He now has the option of pants, a toque and a new sweater! Not to mention he is very looking forward to the possibility of some new friends!

✨🐑 we came back from the Sudbury Stitchfest with some of our favourite notions made by Jenn muster.pattern | custom laser services for fibre and home for the shop! We have lots progress keeper sets, stitch marker holders, row counters, Canadiana and Handmade suede tag sets (available in different colours), and fibre artist’s mini tools (a one inch gauge square, wraps per inch, and stitch marker holder all in one!).

Come by the shop to check out all of the different designs today from 11am-6pm 🎃🐠🌼🎄
