We have been in our new home for just under two months and it already feels so right.

I had my eye on this house for a while and I honestly didn't think we had a chance at getting it. Even though it felt like such a reach, I did what everyone tells you not to do... I pictured us living here. I was decorating the rooms in my head. I picked out paint colours and planned out what Christmas morning would look like here. I was setting myself up for major disappointment 😬

Call it intuition, manifestation... heck, call it delusion. Whatever it is, I've got it and it worked out! We live here now. We live in the adorable little century home with the huge enclosed porch that I dreamt about sitting on with the sun shining in and the cool breeze blowing through.

It definitely has its quirks. This old girl has had the "landlord special" done a time or two. The gorgeous big windows were all painted shut. Every bit of natural wood was given a coat of white paint (they spared the floors, thank goodness!) But we love her just the way she is. And the best part? I think my mom would have loved it here, too. 🩷

We are closer to the downtown core in our new town in Kawartha Lakes. It feels amazing to wake up, sit on the porch with my morning tea, and wander over to the farmers market, library, local grocery store, etc. Life feels slower and that's exactly what I needed.

Getting this home to the way that I want it will be a long journey. Partially because redecorating is $$$, but also because I am thrifting and sourcing antique and vintage items to fill these walls. Things will happen and find me when they're supposed to, and I can't wait to share the journey here with you all!

All of this to say... things finally feel right. It feels good to have this space to slow down, heal, and feel secure. This home is a sense of warmth and comfort for my family and that is sometbing that we definitely do not take for granted. 🥰

Fun little fact (if you've made it this far): I just noticed, as I was taking this photo, that my tissue box cover and the house in the illustration are almost identical! It's really funny how things come together like this. It's like ✨️magic✨️

I thought I grabbed a box that would have plenty of room…
..turns out I was very wrong! 📦🌼

Swipe to watch me completely fill it layer by layer... ✨️and I still had no room left for the chickens✨️ so I ended up repacking everything into an even bigger box afterwards.

This order is headed to a sweet shop opening in Rosseau this weekend!🩷

Hey friends! 🩷

I’m currently on a temporary pause while I work through some heavy life stuff behind the scenes.

I am still fulfilling all current orders... things are just moving a little slower than expected. Everything is on track to be completed and shipped by the end of the month.

Thank you for your patience, support, and grace while I take a step back to care for myself a little too.

About two years ago, I was selling my little chickens in their nests at the farmers’ market.

A customer picked one up, filled the nest with my crocheted blueberries (like a basket), & that's when it hit me.

Mabel Chicken's nest pattern could be anything! (Thank you, Jocelyn! 🩷)

When my kittens started becoming popular, I kept thinking about how much I loved the interactive part of the chickens + nests… and I wanted that same feeling for the kittens. So I tucked them into little beds! 😸

It’s been kind of surreal watching it grow into something that you all love, and I’m now seeing everywhere.

Just a reminder that the smallest, most unexpected moments can spark something really special ✨

A list of reasons why my wrists hurt (and why I'm not even mad about it):

🌼 I almost quit my business at the start of this year
✨️ I decided to try one more time… but do things differently
🩷 I started focusing on getting into shops instead of markets
💥 and somehow it all escalated VERY quickly 😅

Now I’m sitting here making dozens of these tiny animals and trying to process how this is my real life!

If you’re a maker feeling stuck right now... don’t quit on a slow season. Things can change SO FAST. 😸🐔
