Mixed media card:
The butterfly die is from Gummiapan and I cut it from Simply Stated Design paper that already had a sort of distressed look. I inked it and added some glitter.
For the background I stamped in a light pink, inked through a stencil, heat embossed some splatter, and outlined some of the stencilling with glitter. I inked the edges of the mat, added some ribbon and embellishments.
It sounds like a lot but it all goes quite quickly.
I just now noticed I adhered the background upside down but I’m not even sorry. All part of the charm of mixed media.

While these cards were Pinspired, I decided to make them CAS (clean and simple) by using one little banner instead of using multiples.
All products are SU! and probably all retired by now. I first stamped the image, then coloured it before using the banner punch.
I made one card with a bakers twine bow and one without. Which do you prefer?

The Gummiapan banner die is proving to be quite versatile. I rooted around in my scraps bin and found some vintagey shabby chic looking patterned paper and thought it would pair great with a little die cut cat, also from Gummiapan.
I inked the edges of the cat a bit to create a bit of dimension. Then I stamped the sentiment and adhered it. I wasn’t quite feeling the pearl or rhinestone embellies so I went with a natural twine bow.
These cat dies may need a window. Good thing I’m heading to the Great Canadian Scrapbooker Carnival tomorrow…

If you had a long weekend I hope you enjoyed it! Mine was good!
The order from Gummiapan included 2 sizes of teddy bears. This is the large one.
After die cutting it I inked the edges and now that I see it as a photo maybe I could’ve taken a very light marker and did a bit of interior detailing. Anyway, it’s still super cute!
I die cut the heart, placed a patterned paper behind and sat the teddy on the edge of the heart.
For the sentiment I made sure the piece of paper was large enough for some bakers twine to wrap around underneath.

The Pinterest card that inspired my version was a lot more sophisticated. I can always make another one!
It’s meant to be a birthday card. I heat embossed little party hats on squares of card stock. Sometimes, with smaller images, it’s easier to stamp and then cut/die cut/punch so the image is more centered.
Easily replicated, the card can be done in any colour. I think I’ll add a rhinestone to one of the hats or squares.

This is an eclipse card and I have mixed feelings about it!
The eclipse technique involves die cutting an image or sentiment out and then stacking the image so it stands out. I used two layers of card stock under the patterned paper sentiment.
I think where it’s not quite right is that the patterned paper is maybe a little too busy and the word doesn’t stand out as it’s meant to.
Next time, I’ll use plain card stock or a better pattern. In the meantime, happy creating!

This was my second attempt at this card. The first time I didn’t like the way I’d coloured the flower. I’d already attached it to a taller stamp piece which looked better but I tossed it all out. So this one is on a shorter piece which isn’t the greatest but I didn’t want to cut out another one. Le sigh, oh well.
The correct way to cut the flower is to use the colour of card stock you want instead!
Then I somehow got ink on the white paper but covered it up with an embellishment.
In the end, the card came out decent and mistakes keep me humble even after all these years of card making! Lol

The weather here has finally agreed with the calendar that it is indeed spring. A mallard drake and an iris in my front yard are today’s lovely indications.
Those little things inspired me to post this card. I used ink and blending brushes for the grass and bit of sky. The snail and mushrooms are Lavinia Stamps and the butterflies and grass are from SU!
I added some bakers twine and a simple sentiment to finish the card.
Don’t let white space scare you!

My Gummiapan order arrived the other day, all the way from Sweden. Unbeknownst to me they were having a sale so the 9 little sets (the tag is from a previous order) were even cheaper!
I did some creating this morning and want to share one of the cards, even though there are others waiting in line.
I placed a little scene onto a section of an Aall & Create die cut stamp: little birds, a little flower garden, and a little hedgehog.
While I lightly inked the hedgehog, I fully coloured the flowers so it feels mismatched. I’ll try again with the inked sponge.

This card. I really like this card. It’s sweet and CAS (clean and simple).
Inspired by Pinterest, I made it my own by using only one heart and one speech bubble, mostly because my card size is smaller.
For the bakers twine bow, it’s easiest to wrap a length around the card, then make a bow out of another length and adhere it to the card.
