A few works in progress. Plaster and hydrostone cast pieces… Playing with a softer palette (apricot tea roses are my favourite kind of rose) and mixing mediums as I do… Time disappears on days like today! I even forgot to make dinner😆

Think about the size and weight of a 1 lb bag of sugar. This beeswax peony centrepiece weighs just over 3lbs.

It’s gorgeous on its own and will delight guests for your special occasion. Or treat yourself to something special! This is art meant to burn! 3 cotton wicks, trim them to 1/4” for a slow and steady burn.

$75, fully handmade by me. The vessel is hydrostone and can be made from concrete as well. The peony candle is locally sourced beeswax.

Customizations can include: dying the candle, painting the candle, dying the hydrostone vessel, and scenting the beeswax. Colours will not be exact due to the nature and timing of molding and casting. But i promise to get as close as I can. Each handmade candle will be completely unique and on of a kind.

Scented candles require up to 2 weeks setting time before shipping or delivery to ensure proper scent-throw.

Experiment time!! (Pics for tax and context, are of maple syrup boiling and brush burning in barrels)

So, I love mold-casting and plaster work, but I also love working with clay. I don’t have a kiln, but there are 2 methods of firing clay that don’t require a kiln: pit firing (the OG ancient method) and raku firing - which is a DIY outdoor kiln… Because I don’t like working with propane, I am planning to build myself a little pit and fill it with sand, charcoal and sawdust for firing clay… I have NO experience or idea if it will work, or if everything I make will crack - but going low and slow is how we are going to start. Stay tuned for some fun, probably several bloopers and hopefully success as I go… I just think… what an amazing way to bring this beautiful farm into my work as an artist. Pit firing, when done right, offers some pretty cool natural textures and colours due to its process. Like most things I do, I’ve got my clay, we’ll start with simple vessels, and while the clay dries, I’ll prep my pit…. 🔥👩🏻‍🎨

If I have good clay on my farm, I may even be able to harvest and clean my own clay right here… We’ll see!! 🪏🚜
