This week we venture down the Trans Canada Trail in search of local bird activity. One of the easier access points to the Great Trail that spans 28,000 kms across Canada is at Kerr Park in Bracebridge. This recreational setting is a multi-use greenspace with a large-scale pond for quiet reflection, a heritage barn for community celebrations, a very popular off-leash dog park, picnic spots for sitting and knitting, and a number of sporting fields.

Signage along the top ridge of the park leads onto the walking trail where pollinators are busy preparing for autumn and birds are enjoying the dense canopy of goldenrod to dart under.
Location: 130 Beaumont Dr in Bracebridge

This week's MUSKOKA BOUND colourway is MOURNING DOVE, inspired by their soothing song, and soft, elegant appearance.

PROJECT PICK OF THE WEEK

ON THE RIDGE SOCKS
Handmade socks hold a special, almost legendary status in the knitting universe. Beyond their practical function, they carry a level of warmth, craftsmanship, and personal connection that commercially manufactured socks simply cannot replicate.

This top down sock recipe is simple enough for beginners, with textural interest that creates a stretchy fit to accommodate all leg sizes.

This week we slip away to a peaceful setting just a few kms outside Algonquin Provincial Park. The Wolf Den Nature Retreat is an eco-friendly cabin and lodge property situated along the Oxtongue River where owners, Jen and Jacques have created a welcoming space that focuses on fostering community through shared space to reconnect with nature while minimizing environmental impact.

Rustic cabins blend seamlessly into the natural forest, and a 'Pollinator Garden' provides a quiet spot for reflection while knitting in the afternoon breeze. After sundown, visitors from around the world settle in at the campfire circle to share stories of adventure.
Location: 4568 hwy 60 in Algonquin Highlands

This week's MUSKOKA BOUND colourway is TWILIGHT STORM, inspired by the inky blue sky above the evening campfire.
