Another firing schedule begins! I’ve filled my little kiln to within a centimetre of the lid. 😳 Bisque firing will take a day to remove any residual moisture, fire to 1031°c, and then cool down enough for me to unload it.

My favourite part of the pottery process is creating items on the wheel. But there is something about knowing that everything made it safely into the kiln that makes me exhale. Once items come out of the bisque firing they’ll be much less delicate - a wonderful thing for this slightly klutzy girl!

Sanding bottoms is the last part of the pottery process. This needs to be done outdoors and by keeping the pottery wet to keep clay dust to a minimum. Clay dust can cause silicosis if particles are inhaled.

It’s all clay all day here!

Glazed the last couple of pieces and started a glaze firing. Dealt with some reclaimed clay that had been sitting for a while. Cleaned my tools Clay class tonight at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba. (And maybe a little swim this afternoon.)
