Discover how sometimes the most effective designs are the simplest ones. Emil Hartvig's logo for Kingfish embodies this principle beautifully. Check out the full story: https://wix.to/1717x44

Sometimes, the most effective designs are the simplest ones. Emil Hartvig's logo is a perfect example of this principle. In a clever display of minimalism, the logo merges two distinct elements into one stunning visual. At first glance, it’s just a clean, modern design—simple yet effective. But w...

This little table with wavy legs was something I picked up in a second hand shop. It was simple and I thought would make a good piece to try milk paint on. I purchased powdered milk paint which you just add water to. I tried a lot of different techniques including wax, textured layers that were sanded back and varying the thickness of the paint. I wanted to emulate a primitive, worn look and am happy with the results. This piece has already sold, but I could add a primitive look to a piece of your choosing.

This versatile small table is a great size to tuck into your favourite reading nook! The original finish had some water damage and I was inspired to give it a painted look that also retained the beautiful wood grain on the top. The base also has a crackled effect with ivory over black, which was inspired by an older piece of furniture. The small stencil design on top finishes it off and looks great flat or tilted down. Check it out in my SN30 East Booth at Crossroads Antique Market.

This is one wall of my SN30 East booth where I have a display of china in an impressive flat to wall primitive cabinet with original finish and hardware. It can be hung directly on a wall.

There are also some vintage and repurposed items. The half chair has been painted with milk paint for a primitive look and has been designed to mount on a wall. You could hang it in a bathroom and use the seat as a shelf and rungs as a towel bar. It is a great way to recycle an old, broken chair.

This is my SN30 West Booth at Crossroads Antique Market. As you can see there are a lot of interesting items ranging in styles and prices. You will find mostly Danish and Canadian made pieces.

For example, the table and chairs are custom made by Mausser's Custom Furniture, Kitchener, Ont. (Ernst and Ewald Mausser 1960 - 2000) The table is a Burmese quartersawn teak extension table with butterfly leaf. The chair upholstery is original, having been removed, cleaned, repacked foam, new strapping and dustcovers. I reconditioned the wood with teak oil on all chairs and table top.

This is a really interesting cart made out of a beautiful rich oak. Both trays are removable and the base folds for storage. The cart is likely from around the 1920's and similar ones were made in England. As you can see it had significant damage to the finish, which was on both trays. I removed the original finish on both and resealed with polyurethane. Otherwise, the finish is the original. It is located in my SN30 East Booth at Crossroads Antique Mall in Brantford.

This elegant table was in really bad condition when I got it and look at it now! The sides on the original table were laminated layers of bent wood that had separated and missing pieces. They were glued together and missing areas filled. I decided to use a textured wall paper to create a look of embossed leather, so painted it with a dark brown. Then I went over it again with the grey-brown and carefully wiped it off with a sponge while wet. Love it! Then of course there is the ombre top with stencil motifs. What do you think? This one was a lot of work, but well worth it to keep it out of the garbage pile.

This one has sold, but I could always do another one!

This vintage brass magazine rack with relief has gotten a new look! I painted the entire exterior in Fusion Mineral Paint's Raw Silk colour. Then I mixed a custom blue-grey and washed the entire surface and wiped it back, bringing out a nice depth to the relief. This rack has many uses other than magazines - how about hand towels, remotes, ipads or dried flowers?

This dressing table has been transformed into a beautiful piece with lots of pretty details. The sides and drawer bottoms have been covered with textured wallpaper and painted in Fusion Mineral Paint's Damask. The drawer fronts have been stenciled and updated with new matching hardware and painted stripes on the sides. The bench has been recovered with new materials and painted and sealed with wax. All it needs now is a home!

It is located in my SN30 East booth at Crossroads Antique Market in Brantford. (and it's on sale!)

This mid century modern tiered side table had a few blemishes - missing veneer, rusted legs, burn and water marks. So, Susan to the rescue! I filled and stained the veneer issues, sanded and bleached out the burn and water marks, painted the sides and legs for a contemporary look and WOW! The pictures do not do it justice - so check it out in my SN30 West booth at Crossroads Antiques, Brantford.
