A story:
Last year I went to a the Guelph Pottery Market, loved it, and immediately sent my name to the organizers to participate. I waited to hear something, but I never saw an email with an invitation to join.
Fast forward to this spring, I was talking with some artists at another sale and they asked if I was going to be at the Guelph Pottery Market, and I said, "no, I really want to, but I don't know how to get in." And the other artists said, "oh just send an email."
Another week passed and I was talking to another artist who said she had been on the waiting list for the Guelph market forever, but eventually was invited, and she knew another artist who had been invited off the waiting list only 2 weeks before the sale. (Openings can happen anytime).
So, on a whim, I sent a DM to the organizer of the market 3 weeks before the spring sale on social media, and she said I had been sent an email in the fall but I never responded!! 😮😭 However, she said she knew my work and would add me to the waiting list, and I said I would love that.
In my mind, I thought I would likely be on the waiting list for the 2026 winter sale, and maybe I would be invited to join the spring market in 2027. But a little voice in my head kept repeating, "got off the waiting list 2 weeks before the sale." So I held onto my inventory and figured once we were within one week of the market, it would be safe to go ahead with my online sale and have no need to hold onto my inventory.
Then today, while I was doing the work to update my website, how surprised was I to get an message from the organizer of the Guelph Pottery Market saying "we've just had a cancellation, would you like to join us this weekend?!" Apparently that little voice in my head knew something!
So my friends, I am in the Guelph Pottery Market this weekend!!
It does mean that I did not update my website today, because obviously I need the inventory for the sale. BUT, I am still working on the backend of the website so it will be ready to be live the moment we arrive home from the sale and anything that doesn't sell in person you will be able to claim on my website.
