When I’m in a high production phase (prepping for markets, restocking shops etc) every once in a while I enjoy stopping the repetitive sewing (much as I actually like repetitive work🤗) for what I like to think of as a “creative break”. I’m usually itching to use a piece of fabric, or a thrifted home-goods item I’ve found for something unique. This gives me some freedom to create, which is actually a challenge for me. My strength is structure and boundaries, making multiples of a trusted pattern I’ve developed and tested. I struggle with complete freedom in design. So, when I get to make something truly one-of-a-kind, it helps grow my creativity and fulfills a bit of balance in my sewing world. 🤍
I’ve been on a mission to use all the small pieces of off-cuts from dresses/skirts/overalls, and in doing so, I sometimes pick up thrifted sheets, tablecloths etc to reuse and bring new life into. It’s been fun creating these pieces! Hopefully you’re enjoying the journey too 🤗
