The Vickers has got to be one of the most steampunk things to ever hurl a projectile at a rapid rate. Water cooled, operated by a three-man crew, and in use from 1912 to the MID SEVENTIES. Whaaaat? It went from costing 175 pounds in 1914 down to a mere 50 pounds in 1926, which would be about 2800 pounds in Today Money. I very badly wanna get myself a Mad Max style vehicle and mount this in the back so as to dissuade tailgaters. That's a totally normal thing to do, right? Sling it over my shoulder for a Costco run? No? I could probably whangle it onto the front of one of their carts in a pinch... keep the aisles clear of slow-walkers and sample zombies. This is an excellent idea and I refuse to hear objections.
