Advent calendar house #2 is complete.
As much I claim to not be a fan of the Grinch, oddly enough creating Grinch themed items is one of my favourite things to do in the craft room.
Maybe it’s the colours, maybe it’s the Grinch vibe I relate to. 🤣
This house is special to me because I had a little help. When I complained about a few of the decorative elements not being the colour I desired, my oldest granddaughter Shelby picked up a paintbrush and made the little green tree, wreath & gifts exactly how I envisioned them.
My youngest granddaughter, Charleigh is utterly captivated by these little houses and loved opening the little drawers and talking about all the tiny decorations adorning them.
That’s what it’s all about. I hope all of “Nana’s Treasures” are forever magical and mesmerizing to the little ones in my life . . . even when they’re all grown up.

Move over Norman Rockwell, Franklin Mint and Bradford Exchange — I'm making my own collector plates!

It started with one lonely white plate I found while organizing my cupboard of red dinnerware. One plate turned into painting, decoupaging, embellishing... and now I can't stop!

I'm officially a thrift store regular, always on the hunt for plates in all shapes and sizes. These are what I've made over the past couple of weeks, with a few more still on the work table waiting for their finishing touches.

Who knew tidying a cupboard could turn into a whole new hobby?

My favourites are the gingerbread family and the floral ghost — what about you?

Fall is just around the corner and, with the cooler temperatures, comes thoughts of crafting for Halloween and Christmas. After two months craft free, I’m back at it with a vengeance and can’t wait to show you all my latest creations!
First up is my advent calendar house, just a bit over 12” tall, with little drawers perfect for hiding tiny treasures. I had so much fun decorating this, I ordered another while I patiently wait for my in house woodworker to build me a much larger version. 🤣
This one is very traditional with a bit of a rustic country vibe. The next one is going to be wacky, whimsical and more brightly coloured. Can anyone guess the theme I’ve chosen?

It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted, but work (my real job), beautiful weather and visits with the grandkids have kept me out of the craft room for a few weeks.
My youngest granddaughter’s birthday is coming up on Sunday and I wanted to make a cute little gift bag to hold a few little gifts. My oldest granddaughter has wholeheartedly jumped on the squishy dumpling bandwagon, so, while the heat press was steaming hot, I designed a bag for her to carry around her most prized possessions.
Fellow crafters…do you ease up on crafting when the weather is nice or are you dedicated all year round? How do you find the time to be creative when the backyard beckons and free time is largely spent getting together with loved ones?

Unfortunately there hasn’t been a lot of creativity happening here at Nana’s Treasures the past few days. Day to day life, and the responsibilities that come with it sure have a way of interfering with crafting time. Sometimes being a grown-up isn’t much fun. 🤣
There are numerous projects on the go, as always, and I’m hoping to finish them up in the next few days when time allows.
In the meantime, let me live vicariously through all you crafty people and please feel free to post pics of whatever projects you’re currently working on.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

With Canada Day just a little over two weeks away, I’ve been working on a few patriotic items.
The gnome refrigerator magnet is (mostly) hand sculpted polymer clay. I used a mold for the maple leaf he’s holding, and the little lapel pins. (approximately 1”)
The tree ornament is a painted and decoupaged plastic disc, with painted clay accents.
