I started my Tubescent Socks from Carissa Browning !! I decided to go toe-up (you have options) and with a purl gusset (again, there are so many options!!) and my Trans flag colourway :)

I can never do Judy’s magic cast on without feeling like a rockstar :) sock knitting is exactly my speed right now! If you want to make your own, I have kits online for gradients, and the pattern is live!

TARIFFS
Here’s what we can find out. Please note that I’m not a customs expert, and that things seem subject to change based on ...well... anything. The Blue Brick yarns are milled in Canada, and fall under a code that is not included in the new tariffs as of August 22nd.

The Blue Brick is currently tariff-free for our American customers.Source: https://www.cfib-fcei.ca/en/site/us-tariffsCUSMA remains in effect for another 10 years. We are fully CUSMA compliant. ā€œOn July 1, 2026, the United States declined to confirm its renewal of the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) during the agreement’s first joint review. While the decision has attracted significant attention, CUSMA remains in force for the remainder of its existing 16-year term, until at least July 1, 2036. Canadian businesses retain the same preferential access to U.S. and Mexican markets as before.ā€Source: https://www.blakes.com/insights/u-s-declines-to-renew-cusma-at-first-joint-review-what-businesses-need-to-know/
Regardless, There is going to be a lot of fear and instability in the market. Not every Canadian dyer will fall under the same tariff code. Reach out to your favourite dyer and find out what their situation is. If you are able, if you believe what is happening is unjustified, if you value diversity in the market, and especially if you love very small batch dyers who cannot weather huge changes, PLEASE SUPPORT CANADIAN.

No one knows whether a subsequent volley of tariffs WILL include our codes. What we do know is that the trade war will hurt everyone.

AS OF RIGHT NOW, THERE ARE NO DUTIES FOR OUR US CUSTOMERS.We are committed to keeping everyone up to date as much as we are able to. I will stay on top of the latest requirements, communicate with my US customers, and pivot as needed to avoid anyone paying duties to receive our yarn.~Team Blue Brick~

Shadow is dark and moody and *just* saturated enough for its namesake :) dark and moody just happens to be how I’m feeling too 😬

What a few weeks it’s been! An exploded o***y, dad collapsed (drs say he’ll be ok) and now I pull out of a major Canadian festival on the eve that trade talks go to hell in the proverbial hand basket.

Y’all can probably guess how I’m feeling 🧔 all I can say is that, across the border and in Canada, NOW is the time to support your favourite Canadian makers. Tougher times are coming.
