There is a quiet calm that comes from a room resolved with intention.

Sophisticated colour envelops the space, while tailored paneling and a graphic pattern provide rhythm. Natural stone and softened metals offer a moment of understated beauty. Each layer was chosen to support the next, resulting in harmony rather than hierarchy.

Main Floor Laundry, or a Mudroom That Actually Works?

We see it all the time—homes that squeeze a laundry room onto the main floor. But the real question is: at what expense?

In this home, a cramped laundry/mudroom was doing neither job well. With nowhere for outerwear to land, coats were literally spilling into the hallway, creating daily clutter the moment you walked in. By relocating the laundry to the basement, we were able to transform the main floor into a truly functional mudroom—designed for real life.

A proper mudroom earns its keep every single day: managing coats, boots, bags, and the inevitable mess that comes with them. Meanwhile, tucking the laundry downstairs keeps clutter and chaos out of sight, while freeing up valuable square footage where it matters most.

Sometimes the smartest design move isn’t following the trend,it’s choosing function over compromise.

This project was all about the power of decor. By introducing a rich colour palette and adding bold black and gold accents, we brought instant drama and sophistication to the home.

With just a few well-chosen pieces and thoughtful styling, the space feels fresh, elevated, and full of personality. A reminder that you don’t always need a renovation to make a big impact—sometimes the right decor does all the work.

My biggest pet peeve in bathroom design? Opening the door and being greeted by the toilet.

In this project, the layout couldn’t change... so we changed the experience instead.

A fluted glass door softens the view, adds architectural interest, and turns an unavoidable sightline into something intentional.

Would I still prefer the toilet tucked elsewhere? Always, but good design isn’t just about what you change—it’s about how you solve the things you can’t.

Once a hidden service space, it’s now a must-have for modern living. It offers extra storage, a spot for small appliances, and a staging zone that keeps the main kitchen looking clean and curated.

I added one to my own home during a major reno in 2019, and I absolutely love it!

I love using materials in ways you don’t expect. Wood as a backsplash is one of my favorite examples — warm, modern, and a little bit bold.
