PLUMBING SELECTIONS 101 ✨
A few things I always encourage clients to consider before choosing faucets, sinks, and finishes:
✔️ Kitchen Faucet Style
Think beyond looks. Do you want a pull-down sprayer? Bridge faucet? Touch technology? Your faucet is one of the hardest-working pieces in your home, so function matters just as much as aesthetics.
And perhaps my biggest piece of advice: go into your plumbing meeting with an open mind. You may completely change your selections once you understand the functionality and practicality behind them. In today’s meeting, we were convinced we’d be selecting a bridge faucet—and ultimately chose not to for several different reasons. Sometimes the best design decisions come from understanding how you’ll actually live in the space.
✔️ Finishes & Metals
It’s important to consider the undertones of all your finishes and metals—not just your plumbing, but also your lighting and cabinet hardware. Not all golds are created equal. Brushed brass, champagne bronze, unlacquered brass, and polished brass can all have very different undertones and may vary significantly from one manufacturer to another.
While I generally recommend keeping undertones consistent throughout the home, one of my favorite ways to mix finishes is by pairing a softer gold with polished nickel. Both carry a beautiful warmth and create a timeless, layered look when done intentionally.
✔️ Kitchen Sink Material
If durability is your priority, cast iron is hard to beat. It’s timeless, incredibly durable, easy to clean, and ages beautifully. Today, we chose from the Kohler cast iron collection, which offers a beautiful range of colours that can be thoughtfully coordinated with your countertop material and overall design palette. Granite composite sinks are another excellent option, offering exceptional durability with a more contemporary feel.
The most beautiful homes aren’t created by choosing the prettiest faucet—they’re created through hundreds of thoughtful decisions that work together to tell a cohesive story. ✨
Save this for your next renovation or new build or send it to someone who is!
