Sometimes you need a milestone or event or day to take a stand, make a change, evolve. Not sure why this birthday is a big deal- it's not a eventful birthday by any means but I feel like being in your 50's is a good reason to take stock. Things seem to be breaking down left, right and centre. My cooler and electrical for one! Outside our shop door it's a literal dumpster fire. This city, province, country and world are in serious strife and flux. Ugh. So what to do about it? You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. I opt for radical hope. I will write that letter, send the email, be kind when it's easier to ignore and try and be the person my kids and dogs think I am. What can you expect from us as a business this year? More analogue, more connection, more real. A place of imperfect but cheerful refuge from the sh*tshow outside our door. We will continue to support literacy and writing, fine Arts, learning and generally being ethical in all we do. Time & experience is valuable! Make it count. If you've read to the bottom, I will be making mini posies on my day off and gifting them to anyone who really needs some love!

Time is something we all could use more of- so in the spirit of making your Fridays something to delight in, we will be open til 7pm like our neighbors so you can shop the block in leisure! Come on down and grab your blooms, chocolates, feta- maybe some new kicks and go home to chill in style. What are you up to this glorious weekend?

Market day first! Rain and strong wind made it impossible to pitch a tent and stay dry- so the wise folk Bearspaw Lions Farmers Market deemed today a no go. Now I have 28 lonely market bouquets looking for a good home. Going to make the most of my market morning at studio. So if you need a sweet pick me up bouquet and a cuppa tea, I will be working from here til 2;30 today. We have Parking, a kettle and a drawer full of tea! Call for address in Bankview. 403-245-1287.

Time is a wild beast- sometimes it drags on and sometimes a moment can evaporate in a heartbeat. Flowers are a different kind of time keeper. They demand you pay attention, be in the moment. Turn away and ignore the clock and surprise! They are done. All the most iconic blooms are also the most fleeting. For good reason, they are also often the most fragrant, the most precious or bold. Mother's Day is looming, which for us also means the end of a season- tulips will be done from Holland, the ranunculas soon done too. Seems strange that some countries are ending spring and we are still waiting for our turn. Make time your friend and regardless of what's happening- celebrate it one moment at a time. So don't forget to place your order for your mum!!!!

Having people who have your back in all aspects of your life make it richer, more successful and worthwhile. The workplace is no exception. Today is Administrative Assistant's Day and this is the reminder to acknowledge their hardwork that supports you and your business. Anyone on the front line knows the gongshow it often is just to keep things running smooth. And when it doesn't run smooth- having a competent person to run interference is priceless. So for all the admin's out there- you make the corporate world go round, hope you get a pony!!! Or flowers!
