Applications for the Fall 2026 Artist Residency with The Conservatory Collective are officially OPEN!

A partnership between Golden Acre Home & Garden and Alberta University of the Arts, The Conservatory Collective gives local creators a dedicated gallery space inside Golden Acre to showcase, sell, and connect their work with the public.

What You Get:
• A gallery residency at Golden Acre
• Curatorial support to showcase your work
• In-store sales processing (25% commission reinvested to sustain the gallery)
• Exposure to new audiences and the local arts community

Who Can Apply?
•Current AUArts students & alumni

Taking a moment for self care today.
We're thinking of Parker. We're thinking of his family, friends, search and rescue teams, and our sister community of Thorncliffe 💙

This week's GAWeekly is scaling back, slowing down, and just breathing in the beauty that's still all around us. We like to think that plants can be a tool in the toolbox for mental health, so why don't we look at some together?

We invite you to just walk in the greenhouse and look at the colors, breathe in the sense, listen to the birds.

It’s set to be a hot and smoky weekend, so make sure to save your outdoor gardening and watering for early in the morning or later in the evening.

🫂 Community Support: We're playing Disney music across our acres to help bring comfort to our friend Parker, who is still missing in our community. If you're conducting a search this weekend, feel free to use our parking lot as home base during our opening hours.

🌼 Perennials: still lots of time to plant! Vining plants (clematis, honeysuckle, hops), daylilies, sea holly, and privacy-enhancing perennial grasses.

🌹 Fresh Rose Shipment: Our tree lot is freshly stocked with hardy shrub roses in shades of pink, yellow, red, and white.

🖼️ Conservatory Collective: We’ve opened up our art gallery to include artists from across the city! Visit goldenacre.ca to submit your application. It can be paint, photographs, pottery, textiles, and more!

It’s an extraordinarily hot week here in Calgary. ​Whether you’re stopping by to shop, cooling off in our greenhouse, or out in the neighborhood checking yards, sheds, and public spaces for Parker, your safety comes first. High temperatures can be severe, so keeping yourself protected allows you to stay focused and alert.

Thinking of young Parker tonight... 😞
As you walk through our greenhouse, you’ll notice we’re playing Disney music. This is for our friend Parker, who is missing.

​We're doing everything we can to help, including routine searches across all our acres of land, and we’ve learned that familiar Disney songs help him feel safe and guide him toward help. We know many children find comfort among the plants here at Golden Acre, and this disappearance is deeply concerning to us.

​We’re thinking of Parker's family during this incredibly difficult time and hope he is found safe very soon. Until he is found, Disney will play throughout the greenhouse and act as a beacon of hope.
