We are excited to announce that, after an intensive design, coordination, and permitting process, construction has officially begun on this transformative corporate office project.
Converting this older building into a highly functional and modern workplace required significant technical planning and coordination. At FizzaHarris Designs, our role was to translate a vision into a buildable reality—developing the spatial design, coordinating closely with electrical and mechanical engineering teams for comprehensive HVAC and electrical upgrades, and successfully navigating the city approval process to secure all required permits.
It has been a pleasure collaborating with the outstanding team at Burnaby Blacktop Ltd. and helping move this project from concept to construction.
The design is grounded in a tailored "Soft Brutalist" concept that reflects the company's identity and values. The architecture captures the duality of their work: the rugged, demanding nature of heavy paving operations paired with the clean, refined results they deliver to their clients.
To express this contrast, we preserved the building's raw character through exposed timber roofing, brick walls, and polished concrete floors, while introducing clean architectural forms, rich material textures, and carefully curated furnishings to create a sophisticated corporate environment.
As construction progresses, FizzaHarris Designs continues to lead procurement and construction administration, ensuring the built outcome aligns with the vision, quality, and standards established during the design phase.
We look forward to sharing the transformation as the project continues to take shape.
