Celebrating an incredible Mother’s Day season with an even more incredible team 🌸

Yesterday we came together for a company-wide lunch to recognize all the hard work, long hours, and teamwork that went into making our busiest season of the year a success. Thank you to everyone for your dedication and effort, and to our COO Corne for ending the afternoon with a heartfelt speech recognizing the amazing work across the company.

Every bouquet starts with our harvest team. Flowers are carefully picked, sent through our trimming machine via conveyor belt, bundled and trimmed by hand, then placed into buckets and loaded onto rolling shelves for our in-house bouquet production and distribution. It takes teamwork at every step to keep Quik’s Farm blooming. Thank you to our amazing team for making it all possible!

We loved welcoming the attendees of the National Holstein Convention Coach Tour to the farm last month! The group toured our seasonal and mum greenhouses and got to follow the growing process of our lilies and mums, from bulb and plug all the way to harvest. We shared more about our crop cycles, soil steaming and sterilization process, climate and light management, and how our bouquets are produced for mass market retailers.

On average, we harvest more than 200,000 mums each week, and thanks to steaming our soil, we never have to w**d. Space is always at a premium on the farm, so after harvest we’re planting again the very same day or the next!

We really appreciated all of the thoughtful questions and interest in what we do here on the farm. As a thank you, everyone went home with a Quik’s Farm bouquet of their own! 💐

What happens to the bouquets after our quality huddles? They are put up for donation! 100% of the donation goes to the Bethlehem Foundation Canada, a charity that provides essential care and support to people in communities around Pretoria, South Africa. The staff can donate $5 and up for small bouquets and $10 and up for large bouquets. Adela, our receptionist, looks forward to donating every week!

Employee Spotlight: Jasmine Brar

Jasmine Brar has been a driving force behind the growth and efficiency of our greenhouse operations at Plant 4. As our Crop Planning Administrator, she works thoughtfully to maximize greenhouse space while expanding the scope and variety of our product. She is also incredibly creative, you can spot her paintings in many different areas of Plant 4, adding a personal and vibrant touch to the space. Over the past three years, Jasmine has grown tremendously in her role, continuously taking on new challenges and pushing herself to learn more. Jasmine’s dedication, adaptability, and desire to keep expanding her horizons make her an invaluable part of our team. 🌻

Peak season calls for a fresh pick-me-up! 🍓🍍🍇
Last Friday, we treated our amazing team to fresh fruit cups to keep the energy high and say a big THANK YOU for all their hard work.
Shoutout to our awesome volunteers who made sure every cup was perfectly packed (yes, at least one of every fruit 🙌)
