So gorgeous, right? It was a pleasure to dip Lauren and Cody’s wedding candles. I thought I’d left event gigs in my twenties but wields some subtle, powerful magic and I found myself taking on day of decor install. It was super smooth sailing to help realize Lauren’s vision thanks to her meticulous organization and labelling of an impressive collection of thrifted milk glass, brass animals and candle sticks.
And it was fun to play with fresh flowers, thank you for sourcing these stunning tulips from . was especially in love with the frilly edged ones. And what a perfect setting for this styling, red lacquered dining room totally commits, its rich aesthetic practically begs for candlelight. Setting up alongside Linda and crew was fun. Super appreciate how they humoured my various requests, such as finding the fig tree’s best angles and for refreshing my boiling water bucket. My apologies for stealing your lighter, it was not my intent and it’s still in my vehicle and it’s possible I’ll remember to return it when I’m in the area so it still could be considered borrowed.
Why did I need a bucket of hot water? To fit each hand-dipped taper securely into its candlestick in situ, for a secure and dripless burn. Submerging the candle base in hot water softens the beeswax for a stable fit in its holder. This was the first time I’d had so many candles lit throughout an indoor event. And this was a cozy, intimate set up with dinner service, children, and an open bar.
I was so proud (and relieved) to arrive at the evening’s close and hear all dips burned throughout the festivities, without incident or even any dripping.🏆
Another happy discovery was how the crew had already disassembled and organized most of the decor items by the time I arrived to take down. And speaking of sweet, the newlyweds surprised me with a gift of their brass candlesticks, doubling my own collection. Lauren also shared this darling selection of photos from the day, taken by Bri .💕
It was actually such an enjoyable endeavour all around - yr Hank you so much for involving me Lauren and Cody!🥰
