Have you seen the newest craft kits in the shop? 🐝🦋

Make your own felt insects with these delightful kits from The Yellow Birdhouse —including a monarch butterfly, luna moth, ladybugs, and bees.

Each kit comes with the supplies and instructions to get stitching, from 100% wool felt and DMC embroidery thread to patterns, a stitch guide, and step-by-step instructions. Some kits even have enough felt to make two creatures—one to keep and one to share! 💛

The best part? The Yellow Birdhouse is from right here in Nova Scotia! Founded by maker Laura Nightingale in 2014, it’s home to whimsical felt creations, hand-sewing patterns, DIY kits, and craft books.

On Wednesday, join us for our twice-monthly Q***r Craft Night. Drop in, get crafty, and enjoy making things alongside fellow q***r crafters!

On Thursday, our Knit Your First Sweater class meets for its fourth session—it’s time to split for sleeves!

On Friday, stop by for a PWYC Micro Skills Session with Kelsey and learn how to thread a needle and sew a basic running stitch.

On Saturday, join Kelsey again for an intro to cross-stitch. You'll learn this fun craft while making an ornament!

Finally, on Sunday, come to our Learn to Sew Workshop with Jasmine and make a drawstring bag. There’s just one spot left!

Join our owner Meg for the October session of our monthly workshop series—a new quilt block every month! Each month, you’ll learn to piece a different traditionally-pieced quilt block—one workshop at a time.

Along the way, you’ll explore quilt design and colour theory, practise precise rotary cutting, and learn how to match and nest seams. Come stitch, learn, and enjoy a cozy afternoon with us! ✨

Another busy week ahead, with a few last-minute schedule changes! 🧶

Our How to Magic Loop micro-skills session, originally scheduled for tomorrow, is postponed to October 28. And our Learn to Knit Portuguese-Style Workshop is now happening on November 14. We hope you can still join us!

On Thursday, we’ll meet for the third session of Knit Your First Sweater. Missed Weeks 1 and 2? No worries! This six-week class is mix-and-match, so you can jump right in.

We're a week into October, which means that we are a week into Socktober! 🧦✨

Socktober is an annual month-long giving campaign held every October to collect new socks and winter essentials for people in need, including people experiencing homelessness. Socks are among the least-donated—but most-needed—items at shelters.

Thinking about donating socks? They don’t need to be handmade—most charities actually prefer commercially made socks. If you’d like to donate handmade socks, check with your chosen charity first to make sure they accept them and to learn about their guidelines.
