Cork floors are easy to care for, but there are 3 things to keep off them:

Latex or rubber-backed mats. They can permanently stain the floor.
Abrasive or solvent-based cleaners, such as acetone.
Do not use a soaking wet mop. Use a damp mop instead, since too much liquid can make the seams swell.

For everyday care, a vacuum and a mild detergent are all you need.

Our Shawnee Series can be nailed down, floated or glued down. That flexibility helps your installer choose the method that best suits your subfloor and your space.
• Nail-down: fastened to a wood subfloor
• Floating: planks connect over an underlay
• Glue-down: adhered directly to the subfloor

Closing Up the Cabin for the Season? Don’t Forget Your Floors.

As temperatures drop and cottages and cabins are closed up for fall, your flooring will experience changes in temperature and humidity too.

Before locking the door for the season:

✓ Clean the floor and make sure it is completely dry
✓ Check for any leaks or areas where moisture could get in
✓ Follow the flooring manufacturer’s recommendations for temperature and humidity
✓ Avoid leaving wet rugs, mats or damp items sitting on the floor
✓ Remember that wood flooring naturally responds to seasonal changes in its environment
