Do you have a Singer Featherweight (or similar) collecting dust or tucked away on a shelf just waiting to be used? Join Tammi Lee, vintage sewing machine repair specialist, for a full day workshop on understanding your machine and maintaining it.

Students can expect to learn the following:

-troubleshooting your machine: recognizing problems you can solve and problems a specialist should looks at
-tension: why we need to look at it, what it is and what it isn’t, how to adjust it from a user’s point of view and from a repair point of view
-Tools and helpers
-Cleaning: this will include some simple disassembly
-Common adjustments: belts, bobbin winder guides, etc.
-An understanding of lubricants
-Assessing motor brushes
-Foot pedal maintenance
-Cord replacements
-Basic restoration of the appearance of the machine
-Timing- what is this?
-Sewing machine misconceptions

Students will each receive a repair kit that includes a grease syringe, oil syringe, grease, sewing machine oil, machine prop, screwdriver guard, bulb removal tool, 90/14 needle, spool pin felt, bamboo skewer, pipe cleaners, and a magnetic sheet.

Join us from 10am - 4pm on Sunday, October 18th and get your machine up and running! Registration is available on our website under events or stop by the shop to sign up.

A reminder: the studio is closed today for Thanksgiving. Our regular Crafter Dark crafting evening will resume next Monday, Oct. 19th.

Photo is our Beginner Embroidery: Ghost Raven Witch.
WHEN: Saturday, October 17 & 24 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

The Ghost Raven Witch workshop will teach students to embroider a bird we are all familiar with! This hoop will show students how to compose an image with minimal foreground and background to feature a centrepiece. In this class, you will learn a grand total of eight stitch types.

Materials included:
-6" wooden hoop
-embroidery needle
-embroidery floss in various colours
-foundation fabric (cotton)
-needle minder

Please bring a small, sharp pair of scissors to class.

Skill Level: no experience required
Length of class: 2-hours per session/ 2 sessions
Cost: $65/person* Maximum ten attendees per class.

We have been a bit quiet on social media lately because we have been unpacking SO much new stock! A sneak peek of GUSTO WOOL Echoes sock yarn. This yarn comes in two identical 50 g skeins to make matching gradients for each sock. These colours are just perfect for fall and have us looking forward to pumpkin pie 🥧 😏

We had a wonderful time checking out the sheep shearing activities Harris Family with the Harris family. The most beautiful drive out with all the changing leaves and so much fibre to be had. If you couldn’t make it out this time, sign up for our newsletter and we will let you know when our next visit is. We also loaded up on yarn and fibre so pop by the store and check out the most gorgeous Gotland-Finn fibres. We have a couple new things in too…😏 We should have it all ready this Thursday!

Thank you to Susan Knitting & Crochet for all your work coordinating this event and for the lovely photos. A huge thank you to everyone who came out and especially to Jacob and Aimee for hosting us and letting us into their home and farm.

Join us this weekend at Bryncelyn Estate to get up close to see professional sheep shearing at its finest! It’s a FREE event but you just have to get yourself to the farm (approx 45 min west of Edmonton near Alberta Beach). There will be yarn and fibre to purchase and best of all, you get to see all the Gotland-Finn sheep!

Register today on our website and we will email you all the info you will need including safety info and directions. It will be a beautiful weekend to be out at the farm!

They are a non-profit organization that promote healing and wellness for Indigenous children, youth, and families.

Our new mascot!!! This beauty came to us from a very thoughtful customer who had a neighbour parting with her and was kind enough to reach out. Just a little vacuuming and a light carding was all she needed!

Our new alpaca doesn’t have a name but the family referred to her as a she and we are open for name suggestions! We already got a few good ones from our kids crochet class last Saturday 💕

Apparently, she used to be a prop for a shop on Whyte Avenue that sold Peruvian knit sweaters some time ago. How exciting to have her back in Okd Strathcona!

Come stop by the shop and get a photo. We will hopefully have a name soon!

We have a busy week at the studio! A few classes and workshops happening this week:
