Picture this….
You turn a corner into a stunning public park filled with trees, pathways and a large clearing.
The sun is shining bright with a cool breeze coming in from the west.
Kids are laughing and playing in the field, dogs are chasing balls and eating butterfly’s, birds are singing to the people as they stroll by. And there, right in the middle, is a giant tree surround by park benches and chess tables filled with the young and old alike.
You notice as you approach though that this is no normal tree.
There are no leaves fluttering in the breeze on its stiff branches. It stands there tall and glistening in the morning light. The bark is like nothing you’ve seen before. You realize there before is not a tree but a sculpture of flowing wire moulded into the form of a towering bonsai tree. Is this a dream you ask yourself.
No, this is my idea for an art installation here in the city or park space.
It would be built out of thousands of large gauge aluminum wire standing between 7-12ft talk. I envision it either to be solid red, white or black in color. Possibly inside the center of a structure like a gazebo and could have solar powered string lights to bring it to life at night.
I think this would be a beautiful and well received public art project for the City of Edmonton. Maybe replace the silver balls with a wire tree sculpture. 🤷🏻♂️
Love to make this happen!
