Do you have enough glue and glass cleaner to survive winter? If not, add these liquid items to your next order! Glues and glass cleaning products must be protected from freezing.

Glues are on page 40 of the Folkgraphis price list. Glass cleaner is on page 44.

Also, are you aware of Maxim's Raven glue? 1min setup and 15min cure just like regular Maxim but applies grey and dries BLACK for all of your projects involving black mouldings. Order Folkgraphis SKU 130115 for a 4oz bottle or 130111 for a 16oz bottle if you aren't already ordering this by the quart or gallon.

Folkgraphis will be closed Monday, October 12 to observe the statutory holiday. May your long weekend be restful and filled with family, friends, and food. We're thankful for all of the framers and our staff who drive the picture framing industry in Canada.

Also, remember: glass cleaner and glue must be shipped before outdoor temperatures drop to freezing point. We'll send a reminder at the beginning of the week.

Happy Thanksgiving and we'll see you on Tuesday.

Good morning, framers! Question for shops with capacity to do chops and joins: what heuristics do you use to help decide to do your own chops and joins vs. ordering chops and joins from us? Do you consider your immediate order against the amount of footage in a case? Do you evaluate a customer's commitment for picture framing over a certain period of time? Do you just love cutting and joining moulding so much that you will do all of it in house? 😃Please share your guidelines and thoughts!

"Concrete" in 3/4" depth from our Denim moulding collection. Could you see yourself offering this as an alternative to a linen liner? 🤔

Quick questions for Canadian picture framers . . .

I came across this recent Tru Vue survey that claims 48% of framing consumers are millennials (35-44 years old). 46% custom framing for the first time. And 43% of millennials value “authenticity over content” which I believe specifically relates to social media content that is more raw than polished.

Are these stats consistent with your observations? Or is your customer typically someone in their 50s or older (or corporate)? We know the market’s changed since the '90s and early 2000s, but has it really shifted that dramatically?

And another question: Is U.S. data even relevant to Canadian shops? Different consumer culture? Different price points? Or are we in sync?

I’m curious if your experiences match what’s in this 2page PDF of the survey:https://folkgraphis.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/TruVue-Quantitative-Survey-Sheet.pdf

What’s your take? Let's hear about what you are seeing—especially if it contradicts the study.

𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 — 𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴

What if you could take on large framing jobs you don’t have the physical space to complete — but know you are capable of designing and specifying?

We've been growing Folkgraphis from an Edmonton wholesaler into a full-service partner for framers across Canada for nearly forty years. With Vancouver and Edmonton facilities combining nearly 60,000 sq ft of warehouse and production space, plus our newly-installed extra large Swiss-made Gunnar computerized mat cutter capable of cuts up to ~53" x 78" at up to 2 metres/second — we give you creative flexibility that manual equipment simply can’t match.

But here’s the real question: 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱?

Our robust domestic inventory extends well beyond standard sizes — including 60"x104" mat boards and acrylic up to 80"x120". We keep these oversize options IN STOCK:

• Optium 52x96", 72x96", 60x80", 72x120"
• Regular 60x96"
• Conservation Clear 80x120", 60x80"
• Foam board 60x120"

Whether you need moulding, mats and substrates — or custom cutting, mounting and full assembly — we have the capacity to support work you’re already capable of designing.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽? Tell us — we'd love to partner with you on any job.

As summer fades across Canada we find ourselves amidst transition again. The back-to-school rush dominates retail headlines. But what about us—as picture framers and artists, do we get a surge in work during this period in the way other industries may experience it?

Some of you might already be gearing up for your own seasonal spikes: professional associations are gathering artefacts for new councils or new directorship boards beginning a new governance year and the memorabilia of past leadership finding its place in the archives.

May we reflect for a moment on this question: what are the true seasons of our trade?

Also, is it best that we chase these cyclical opportunities alone or should we collaborate with other framers and service providers? Folkgraphis doesn't have a specific answer or a new product or service to sell. We're genuinely interested in our customers' perspective on seasonality and hope that you'll share yours.
