I’ve been waiting to show you these 😍

Do you get excited about the O Antiphons and also Christmas decor? Look no further 😆

The O Antiphons are the seven ancient Advent prayers traditionally prayed during vespers from December 17–23, each beginning with “O” (O Wisdom, O Adonai, O Root of Jesse, and so on). They’re also where we get the verses of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.

And now they’re available as ornaments!

The full set includes all seven antiphons, each with its own design, and in the traditional Latin, cut and engraved from my favourite maple plywood.

Hang them on the tree or fashion them into a garland, and use them to mark the days of the final week of Advent and enter into the prayers a little more intentionally.

Available now in the shop as a set of seven.

In case you haven’t wandered through the Starry Mantle shop lately…
Here are a few things currently hanging around over there: rosaries, keychains, gifts, signs, and little things for your home. Everything is handmade by me in YEG, from forming wire links for rosaries, to cutting and engraving.

There’s lots to look through, and more coming soon.

All of these and so much more will be available at the Catholic Family Ministries Women of Dignity Conference on October 16 & 17!

Shop now through the link in my bio, and come check us out at the conference!

Happy Michaelmas!

Today we celebrate the feast day of St. Michael the Archangel…and eat blackberries!

According to an old tradition, when St. Michael cast Lucifer from Heaven, Lucifer landed in a blackberry bush and cursed the fruit. So blackberries shouldn’t be picked after Michaelmas, which means today is the perfect day to enjoy them.

We love these simple little Catholic traditions that make feast days tangible! And we’re especially happy to celebrate such a powerhouse saint today.

St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us!

A fun little connection today: Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, the great evangelist of radio and television, was beatified today on the Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham, which is a Marian apparition connected to the Annunciation, when Mary said yes to bringing Christ into the world, and Sheen spent his life bringing Christ into people’s homes through radio and television.

Blessed Fulton J. Sheen, pray for us!

Happy feast day of St. Clare from this Claire, who was excited for an excuse to eat cupcakes 🥳

Scraps? Or inventory? 🤔 Today’s project is breaking off the pieces that are still usable and trying to get the rest into bags to go to the eco station.

While we’re on the topic of wood: the new US tariffs coming into effect August 19 will also apply to my wood products. I’ve temporarily paused shipping those items to the US while I figure out exactly how to handle the added costs.

⭐️ Rosaries are not affected and are still available for shipping to the US! ⭐️

In the meantime, let’s all pray these tariffs get cancelled before August 19, because they’re going to hit small Canadian businesses pretty hard. 💜

Today the Church celebrates Sts. Louis and Zélie Martin, the first married couple canonized together, and a beautiful reminder that holiness is found in the ordinary: in family life, in daily work, and in creating with love.

To celebrate their feast day, everything in my shop is 25% off through July 15, the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

If you’ve had your eye on a rosary, a magnet, or a wooden sign (St. Zélie’s quote, “Carry on bravely”, perhaps 😉), now’s a great time to grab it.

Thank you for supporting this little business and allowing me to create pieces that help bring faith into everyday life.

Every small business has a behind the scenes team, and the smallest team members take their jobs very seriously. Today’s official helper took charge of packaging and stamping this order before it heads off in the mail. Thankfully she takes payment in the form of snacks.

Every order from Starry Mantle Creations is made, packaged, and sent with care…and occasionally with a little help from tiny hands.

Thank you for supporting our family business 🩵
