Reaching for the Surface

Today, I am not okay.
The world presses in
like deep water,
cold and unrelenting.

I am sinking through silence,
lost in the blue weight
of everything I cannot carry.

My hands reach upward
toward a light I can’t quite touch,
lungs tight,
heart loud,
hope flickering like a distant surface.

Today,
I am drowning —
but still,
I reach.
