We’ve been a little quiet on here recently, we just can’t seem to pop our head out of projects. With projects on the shores of Cameron, Sturgeon, Stoney, Clear and Balsam we’re covering the gamut of new builds to kitchen redos and April is crunch time! It seems spring has sprung and we haven’t found time to get the dock in!

Today was a milestone as published our Guest House project and its budget breakdown. We’ve always thought that design was driven by the clients we do it with and for. Simple materials and a focus on place and views always win for us. To have succeeded in both our and our clients goal of finding The Guest House in the pages of Dwell feels like a welcome way to bring in the change of season and begin to look forward to exploring what new weather brings and the people that come with it.

Every day, we have the privilege of working with some of the most skilled professionals in our industry. The fact that half our team is made up of talented women is not lost on me—especially in an industry where women represent just 10% of the workforce.
Jenis, Madeline, Amanda, Lindsay, Lisa, Steph and Joanne, thank you for the professionalism, level-headedness, and perseverance you bring to our office and job sites every day. A quick Spanish adventure had us finding adventure but also found us mesmerized by the light and spirit of where we were. The food was incredible and Barcelona may be the most liveable big city we’ve been too. Their fishnet grid had us amazed at how it allowed light and made it easy for pedestrians, cars and bikes to share

Part of our week is working through several new build designs where the questions for us are always, what about the view and how does light affect space. The use of our 3D rendering program allows us to plot spaces on the actual site so you can see how light will travel through a home. We can even adjust the date so you can see light levels at different times of the year. Who doesn’t love technology!

My mom’s house. It’s bright, it’s purposeful and it’s a space connected to family and nature. I’ve learned many lessons from her, the ones that show up most often for me are captured here. Finding nature is replenishing for the soul, art is life and you’ve always got to have a comfortable place to rest your bum. Thought the light here was a bit more uplifting than the snow this picture would show right now.
