A client put this image together for us yesterday for our Anniversary...hard to believe we're only 2 years away from the big 2-0.

What I've learned after 18 years of marriage is that you don't need to celebrate milestones large to make the day count. This especially comes into play when you run an incredibly busy small business and your wife is launching a brand new and highly anticipated Bakehouse & Cafe. (check out The Ville Bakehouse & Cafe)

When people asked if we did anything special for our BIG day, they may be intrigued or even surprised that we actually spent the day working. I spent the day out in my shop, like every day, building pieces for clients, while Lady SPP spent time putting together a fire safety plan for the new Cafe and also took advantage of some good friends who spent a few hours with her, teaching her how to use her new espresso machine, but we did take 30 minutes to stop, enjoy a dinner and watch a quick show together.

That 30 minutes was the best part of my day, because Adele is the best part of my life.

When you marry your soul mate, you get to celebrate your anniversary every day, 365 days a year, even if it's just in 30 minute increments.

Happy Anniversary Babe (one day late, obviously)

Cheers,

SPP

After a long day out in the shop, I figured I should go see the Mrs. as it's our 18th Wedding Anniversary today...but I just had to finish our latest Highland Cow piece before heading in for the night 🙂

This beauty piece is just a shade under 26" round, then we hammered it into an old Wine Barrel Ring, giving it the ultimate rustic feel 💙

This is an indoor piece as it's made from slats of glued up pieces of wood, so if purchased, it cannot go outdoors.

If you're remotely interested in this piece, we highly recommend you drop by our shop to see it in person as our photos never truly do our work justice. It really is a beaut!

Now...to go see Lady SPP 🤣

Cheers,

SPP

Coming Off The Laser Shortly!!!

I somehow managed to get gout in my one toe, so while I sat back and drank a bunch of Blackburn Beer Company Shop Beers last night, trying to think how that happened, I put a custom piece on the laser. 🤔🍻

This latest Highland Cow design should fit nicely inside an old Whisky Barrel Ring we have here in the shop, giving this piece a super rustic feel, so stay tuned for that 💙

Back to working on your custom orders today!

Cheers,

SPP

Good Look'n...but a total pain in the a$$

No, not how Lady SPP would describe me (I don't think 🤔) but how I would describe these custom ordered Happy Place Signs 🙂

Painting burnt wood white takes a LOOOOOONG time, but we finally got it.

Our latest order of Happy Place Signs are finally ready, including 2 x Red/White versions (very Canadian), one custom Brown/Yellow 'My' Happy Place version, a very aggressive My Garden version (it's crazy how the same word used in a different context can be soooo alarming, so much so that we actually covered it on just that one sign 🤣) and 2 additional original versions.

If you ordered these, come'n get'em. If you were part of our original batch, of which we still have 4 of them here...then please really come get them, they take up a lot of floor space 😉

Moving forward, while we'll still offer customization options for your Happy Place Signs, we're definitely charging more for painted letters...like a million dollars or something 🤔

Cheers,

SPP

For all the new people who are following us, I love to share this story every year, with this year being especially special as it marks the 20th that we've been together.

I knew my wife was my wife because we never really had a "dating phase"...we met one night and have been together ever since 💙

On this day, twenty years ago, the night this picture was taken, my life changed forever...

I was working for a marketing company based out of Toronto at the time. I had just flown in to Vancouver from Calgary, exhausted from throwing four straight parties in Mtl, Tor, Edm and Cal, with Van to be my 5th in five nights. I just wanted this trip to be over so I could go home and sleep for five straight days. Little did I know that I was about to meet the love of my life.

I arrived at the event location, Ginger62, and knocked on the front door with what little energy I had left. I just wanted to meet this contact, plan the party and go back to my hotel room for a nap. When the door opened, instantly my energy came back, my heart raced and I would spend the next 12 hours trying to get this beautiful woman to fall as hard for me as I just had for her. I had just laid eyes on Adele for the first time.

I have never looked back from that day forward. She is still that same beautiful, funny, smart, outgoing person I fell in love with from the moment I saw her. What makes it even better is that in five days, she will have been my wife for 18 years.

I love you very much Lady SPP, thanks for falling in love with me back.

Cheers,

SPP

I'm working outside today on this gorgeous day while Blue is inside, apparently guarding the first wave of 'Our Place' signs that people wanted and haven't come to pick up yet 🤔

Oh well...at least they're small 🤣

Happy Saturday, Shops Open!!!
(just say'n)

I don't always make 'Welcome to the Neighbourhood' Gifts for new businesses...but then again...I'm not often married to a new business's Operations & Hospitality Manager, soooo

I'm attempting to stay up to date with our orders, but I'm also having a blast helping Lady SPP get ready for the launch of The Ville Bakehouse & Cafe here in Stevensville, which included creating them this custom baked goods display. I've never been involved with a bakery before, so I'm having all these fun ideas on things to build them!

We also just wrapped up creating 11 awards for the Kevin Hartman Fishing Derby, taking place this Sunday at the Fort Erie Conservation Club in Stevenville, so I hope to get back to my regularly scheduled, non volunteer, work schedule 🙂

Get excited Stevensville...this new Bakehouse & Cafe is going to be something special 💙

Cheers,

SPP
