If you’re new to crochet, don’t worry — it’s small and simple enough for beginners! If you’re a pro, why not make a few and turn it into the perfect pumpkin garland! 🍂🍁

Hi everyone. I wanted to make this post to share that I am slowing down the number of classes I will host each month starting October 2026. I really want to offer more classes and move closer to opening my store, but I am running the risk of burning myself out. The plan is to offer one or two level 1 classes, possibly on the same day, and one level 2 class per month. I will still host a WIP Together every month and will be open for private/individual or group classes upon request.

A little bit about myself; I work an 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday job during the week. I love to go to hot yoga, go on walks, and play pickleball. I enjoy reading books, playing board and video games, making sourdough bread, and crafting in my spare time. I am also very close with my family and we often spend time together. With how busy my schedule has been lately, I haven't had time to do many of the things that I love. I need to make sure I don't lose myself while I am growing this business.

Yarn Over Café was an idea I had back in 2023; a café where you can learn how to crochet and knit, a place to buy yarn and yarn tools, enjoy a cup of coffee, and provide a relaxing place to connect with the crafting community. It is exactly the kind of place I want to go to. In 2023, I had big ideas, but I wasn't able to confidently say "this business is wanted and will thrive", so I got scared and let the idea go. 3 years later, I decided that I would ask the community. I wanted to start slow with crochet lessons and community events, and I have received a lot of positive feedback. I am loving the connections I am making and I am so grateful for the support that I am receiving as I slowly make my dream a reality.

I wanted to share my thanks to River View Orchard for having Yarn Over Café as a vendor at their Annual Fall Fair Market! I also wanted to give a HUGE thank you to all of the local crafters that participated in this market with me, letting me showcase their wonderful art. I am very grateful and honored to have had the opportunity to provide a selling space to support local art. Another thank you goes out to my sister, Sabrina Valea Kar, for not only being one of the crafters but for her help during the market as well. The support I received was amazing and I am looking forward to being part of another market soon.
