✨ A Day Full of Inspiration at the Ottawa Fall Home Show ✨
I had such a wonderful and inspiring time visiting the Ottawa Fall Home Show!
For me, as someone who works with custom window treatments and home textiles, events like this are much more than just exhibitions. They are an opportunity to discover new ideas, meet creative people, see what is happening in the world of interior design, and find fresh inspiration for my own work.
One of the highlights of the show was listening to Sarah Richardson, one of Canada’s most recognized interior designers. I really enjoyed hearing her talk about her work, her approach to creating beautiful interiors, and current design ideas and trends.
This part was especially interesting to me because textiles play such an important role in interior design. Curtains, sheers, fabrics, textures and colours can completely change the atmosphere of a room. I am always looking for new ideas and inspiration that I can bring into my own projects and offer to my clients.
There was so much more to discover at the show!
I met incredibly creative makers producing beautiful leather ottomans shaped like elephants, hippos and other animals — such unusual statement pieces for an interior.
Another unforgettable experience was seeing a Bonneville modular home built right inside the exhibition hall! These homes are manufactured in sections in a factory, transported to the property and assembled on site. Seeing an actual house inside the show was impressive — I could only imagine the amount of planning and work required to bring it there and put everything together.
I also had the pleasure of meeting professionals working in kitchen and bathroom renovations, roofing and other areas of home improvement. It was especially nice to meet successful business owners with Eastern European backgrounds and see how much they have accomplished here in Canada.
I came home with new contacts, new ideas and, most importantly, lots of inspiration.
For me, interior design is always about more than individual elements. Architecture, furniture, lighting, colour and textiles all work together to create a home that feels beautiful, comfortable and truly personal.
