Our popular quote blocks are created using only framing lumber off-cuts salvaged from job sites, adding words to create little blocks of wisdom or inspiration with a touch of sass (or sometimes more than a touch). 😉

Snarky sayings are our preference, but the ones that mean the most to us are the custom orders. The stories that people have shared with us over the years are kept close to our hearts.

Had to stop on my way home to take some pics. Do you see the moon?
😍
I started another course at RRC a couple weeks ago, so Tuesdays are a bit crazy... work from 8-4, grab some Subway and eat while I drive, class from 6-8, then drive over an hour home.
😴
But it's only 10 weeks, and I get to learn about Building Materials, and catch a sweet sunset on my way home.
❤️

Well, this is 50! 😳
Half a century.
Wtf!
I guess my vocabulary hasn't improved. Still as potty-mouthed as ever. 😆
This past year has been so full.... full of joy, sadness, new adventures, grief, silliness.... it all co-exits in this crazy ride of life.
🌼
My kiddo 3D printed me a Care Bears cake topper, how cute is that?! He put it in my smoothie, because why wait for cake? I feel like the world needs a good Care Bears Stare right about now.
❤️
I always thought I'd have my s**t together at 50. But does anyone really?
I mean this past year I went back to school part time, got the job I actually wanted, and I'm still learning. Some days it's hard, and I'm humbled and frustrated by how little I know, but then I am reminded by my wonderful friends to look back and see how far I've come.
🥰
You don't have to decide at 18 what you want to do with your life. Or even at 50. Because as cliche as it sounds, life is about the journey, and I can't wait to see what's around the next bend.
While also stopping to appreciate the daisies along the path.

So here i am.
Keeping s**t awkward since 1976. 🥴🤪🤣🥰

It's been a rough week.
Hell, it's been a rough 6 months. 💔
Sunday my Dad's best friend came and picked up my Dad's stool that he always sat on in the shop. It makes my heart happy to know that he'll have it.

Monday we walked the path around the shop, polished from years of routine.
Then, we turned off the radio, always tuned to 107.7 (the Steinbach country station), and we took his hat off the make-shift hook.
We turned off the lights and walked back home.
We sobbed. 💔

Tuesday a young couple became the new owners of my Dad's house, and this transition has affected me more than I thought it would.
I haven't met them yet. I need a bit more time.
I'm sure they're nice people, but they're not my Dad.

And this week I have also been met with some breathtaking sunrises.
A reminder that hope and heartbreak can co-exist.

Friday the 13th.
4 months without my Dad.
Normally I would have been excited about the 13th, especially a Friday.
My business is literally named Daisy THIRTEEN.
13 has always been my number, at least as far back as junior high, when I proudly donned my sports team shirt with a big number 13 on it.
And now I'm trying to figure out how to reconcile this deep sadness with a number that was always joyfully mine.
And I'm not sure how to do that.
On Tuesday we'll have new neighbours.
So this weekend I will go sit in my Dad's empty shop and feel all the feels.
And Monday night I'll go turn off the radio, take his hat down, and turn off the lights one last time.
I miss you my dear old Dad.
💔

In the words of my Dad's friend, "Damn it".
Right now there's not much else to say. 😔

I took this photo of my Dad in 1994. My photography teacher loved it so much that he let make 2 big prints of it. One for myself, and one for a local exhibit.

Over 30 years ago, and it still hung in his house.
Everyone says this is the iconic photo of my Dad. Plaid shirt, cowboy hat, pack of smokes in his pocket. I'm so fortunate to have captured that.

Our hearts are broken. 💔

Funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 pm in Grunthal, and the details can be found on the Birchwood Funeral Home website.

Rest easy my dear old Dad. Your baby girl misses you already. 💔

Well the world is going to s**t, and it seems so pointless to post anything, but there is still some beauty to be had. And it's important to still find beauty. (Or a grumpy cat)
❤️
So here's some glimmers from this week.
Take in those glimmers wherever you can folks.
❤️
Pause for a minute and breathe.
❤️
Oh, and Canada Post is on strike again.
I'm going to try to post Canadian small businesses to my stories, because i have some friends who could really use the support.
❤️
We are still shipping within Canada, with Purolator or whoever we can.
❤️
If you made it to the last photo... i was running to grab some veggies at the Steinbach farmer's market a few weeks ago, and I was rushing past this table when out of the corner of my eye I see this kid stand up hopefully and then sit back down. I hit the brakes, turned around, and said, hey, did you make all of these?! He lit up, and explained to me which ones were new, and that this was his last week at the market because school was starting.... so I bought this cat for on my desk, and a fidget for my kiddo.
❤️
I still remember a stranger buying some of my kiddo's rainbow loom bracelets at a market, and how much it meant to him (and to me!)
❤️
The cat reminds me to slow down.
And to be kind.
❤️
