VENDOR PROFILE / Fascinated by the delicate line between life and death, Julie finds beauty in the bones, insects and other natural treasures many of us might simply walk past. Welcome Crow’s Nest Treasures to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! A lover of vulture culture and the natural world, Julie often begins with discoveries made while out walking her dog, transforming bones, flowers, butterflies, crystals and curious little artifacts into art for wearing or displaying at home. Her collection includes butterfly and bone terrariums, taxidermy frames, skull and bone lamps, bone and insect jewellery, body art, stickers, pins and matchboxes filled with odd little trinkets. Because nature never makes exactly the same thing twice, neither does Julie — every visit to her table offers something different to discover, with one-of-a-kind curiosities at accessible prices.

VENDOR PROFILE / Step into shadowy streets, gothic architecture and fantastical worlds where knights, skeletons and strange stories wait around every corner. Welcome The Shy Skeleton to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! Artist Echo draws inspiration from fantasy, medieval and gothic storytelling, creating richly atmospheric paintings filled with dramatic architecture, armour, eerie landscapes and places that feel pulled from another world. Alongside original artwork, Echo brings the imagery into an eclectic collection of prints, stickers, bookmarks and screen-printed patches. You’ll also find hand-bound sketchbooks and journals, individually crafted and ready for your own drawings, dark thoughts and curious imaginings. For those who prefer their art with a little mystery, The Shy Skeleton feels right at home among the odd.

VENDOR PROFILE / Monsters forever hold Miriam's heart — and the mundane never stood a chance. Welcome Toyoll Art to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! A home-grown artist with a crust-punk spirit, Miriam has a fierce love for the strange and monstrous, finding beauty in the elegant hands of a hag, the bone-white curve of fangs, peeling skin and the wild baying of hounds. Her traditionally drawn ink work recalls classic horror comics and illustration, with striking black-and-white imagery devoted to original creatures and lovingly rendered fan favourites. Find her work on prints, stickers, artist trading cards, silkscreen patches, tote bags and zipper pouches — or sit for one of Miriam’s popular 10-minute Make-a-Monster sketches, creating an original beast right at the table. Loud, ferocious and unapologetically weird, Toyoll Art knows the monsters are often the most beautiful creatures in the room.

VENDOR PROFILE / For Dizzy, horror isn’t simply about the grotesque — it’s about finding the strange beauty hiding inside the unsettling. Welcome Dizzy Dreamers Gallery to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! Growing up with their hands in the dirt searching for bugs, their head in the clouds and a sketchbook never far away, Dizzy found drawing an escape when being the weirdo could feel isolating. Today, that outsider imagination fuels artwork where eerie and enchanting happily hold hands. Familiar subjects slip into the fantastical, the ordinary becomes wonderfully strange, and portraits hover somewhere between reality and reverie. Through original designs, art prints, stickers and commissions, Dizzy invites fellow weirdos into a world of horror, whimsy and beautiful unease — and a community where being different means finding your people.

VENDOR PROFILE / Crystals, creatures and curious bones come together at Usually Blessed — welcome Chantel to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! At the beginning of her creative journey, Chantel is discovering imaginative ways to transform animal remains and crystals into displayable art that gives each natural element a new story. Her creations range from animal skulls nestled among crystals in vintage teacups to framed skull displays, jarred bones and coyote-tooth earrings. It’s an unexpected mix of delicate and macabre, where pretty teacups meet teeth, skulls and stone — and where no two creations are quite the same. For Chantel, the show marks an opportunity to introduce her work to fellow lovers of animals, crystals and unusual art, and perhaps find a few kindred spirits along the way.blessed

VENDOR PROFILE / For 15 years and counting, Andrew has been gleefully disrupting Nova Scotia reality by dropping iconic science fiction and fantasy characters, starships and other unexpected visitors into some very familiar places. Welcome Star Ships Start Here to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! Since 2011, Andrew Burke has been part of Halifax’s arts and fandom community, creating clever photo mash-ups where the fantastical collides with the everyday — and suddenly Halifax, Peggy’s Cove or another recognizable corner of Nova Scotia becomes the setting for a very different story. His work rewards a second look, mixing local landmarks, history and humour with plenty of pop-culture mischief. Find his alternate version of Nova Scotia on posters, greeting cards, postcards and stickers — plus, new this year, art books collecting Andrew’s wonderfully warped visions in one place.
