A beautiful day yesterday morning in Vienna. Great day for a trip to the Kettenbrückengasse flea market. It was my first time there and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Heavy on bohemian glass and paintings, I did nonetheless find a couple of nice German First War postcards. One is an identified unit from Dresden and the other a German mountain trooper. One can clearly see the edelweiss in between the cockades. Maybe only a small detail but still rather exciting for us history nerds.

A very scarce couple of finds over the weekend. In addition to the usual German items that I dragged back, I was able to source these two scarce Fenian Raid related items. One a land grant to a private in the 43rd Battalion and the other a photo of a group of Fenian Raid vets proudly sporting their Canada General Service medals. The photo dates to 1900. It was taken by W.S. Clarke. I have been able as of of yet to track down the photographer as that would likely lead me to a specific battalion. Two great pieces of Canadiana. Now listed for sale on the website: www.prospectofwhitbyantiques.com
