A lot of people know me for my paintings, but digital art has been part of my creative practice for years.

Before some of my recent exhibitions, mural projects, and landscape paintings, I spent countless hours experimenting with colour, shape, and composition on an iPad.

Looking back, I can see ideas that still show up in my work today. The bold colour, playful forms, and layered movement have followed me from digital sketches to canvas.

These pieces are part of that journey.

I’m thinking about sharing more work from the archive. Would you like to see more of my digital art?

👇 Let me know in the comments.

Hi, I’m Alex.

I paint colourful abstract landscapes from a basement studio in Hamilton, Ontario.

Most of what you see online is the finished piece, but these photos show a bit more of the reality behind it:

the paintings,
the studio,
the mess,
and my assistant who supervises everything from the floor. 🐶

If you’re new here, welcome.

I’d love to know:

How did you first find my art?

Dream Valley is almost finished.

There are still a few details I want to refine, but it’s finally at the stage where I can see the painting taking shape.

I’ve been exploring a brighter, more playful direction lately—holding onto the landscapes that inspire me while pushing the colours further than reality would ever allow.

Swipe through to see how this piece evolved from the first sketch to where it is now.

And yes, my studio assistant made a surprise appearance in one of the photos. 🐾

Which stage of the process is your favourite?

A few pieces from my studio lately.

Some older.
Some newer.
Some loud.
Some quieter.

Trying to build a body of work that feels emotionally honest while still leaving room for interpretation.

Which one would you hang in your space?

Galaxy Girl ✨

Also known as “Galaxandra” — a nickname that became a play on my name and the galaxy textures in the piece.

Painted this one over five years ago and it’s still one of my favourites.

These pieces are currently on display at McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton as part of the Art in the Workplace exhibition.

I painted them a while ago, but seeing them hanging together for the first time felt pretty special.

Sharing some of my art from 2025 🤍
Last year I took a step back from creating. At the time it felt uncomfortable, but in hindsight I see how necessary it was. I needed space to focus on other parts of my life, to rest, reset, and quietly refill my creative well.
Breaks aren’t endings—they’re part of the process.
Here’s to a curiosity-led, intuition-driven, creatively fueled 2026 ✨
