It’s Tip Tuesday! Nighttime frost advisories have begun in South Central Ontario. If you have summer plants or delicate herbs you’re not ready to part with yet, this tip is for you. I’m using a double sided table cloth, plastic on the outside and felt on the inside. Tent your planter over a stick, trellis, tomato cage etc. and secure into place. The outer plastic will repel the frost while the felt insulates and prevents the transfer of frost. The felt lined table cloth was $4 at Dollarama. If you don’t have one on hand you can use a sheet. DO NOT use just plastic as it can conduct the frost and burn the leaves you’re trying to protect. As for me, my basil has lived another day - time to make pesto! (Apologies for my RBF … I’m three weeks into wearing Invisalign and I apparently have developed a perma scowl 🫣😬🤣)
