A cairn is a human-made pile (or stack) of stones raised for a purpose, usually as a marker or as a burial mound. The word cairn comes from the Irish: carn [ˈkʰaːrˠn̪ˠ] (plural cairn [ˈkʰaːrˠɲ]).
Cairns have been and are used for a broad variety of purposes. In prehistory, they were raised as markers, as memorials and as burial monuments.
These Puddingstone Cairns include some Great Lakes Stones. All tumbled polished and/or coated and have been temporarily hot-glued for easy release so you may use them as accent for your crafts/projects , add to your personal rock collection or garden decor.

ANIPICH ROCKS STUDIO

St. Joseph Island was originally named “ANIPICH” in the 1670's Map by French explorer René de Bréhant de Galinée, after an Ojibwe word meaning: "Place of the Hardwood Trees" . The Island was renamed St. Joseph, presumably by European Jesuit missionaries.

St. Joseph Island is known for its deposits of Jasper Conglomerate (Puddingstone). Jasper Conglomerate was formed millions of years ago. Consists of subrounded pebbles of red jasper, black chert, white quartzite, hematite, and semi-transparent quartz in a matrix of coarsely grained quartzite. English settlers called it Puddingstone for its resemblance to traditional Christmas pudding with currants and red cherries. St. Joseph Island Puddingstone is unique to the area , highly appreciated and exalted in artistic and decorative creations.
